The instrument you buy doesn't have to be pretty or expensive...the music part is all up to you.

Here's an example...Jeff "Skunk" Baxter has played guitar in bands like Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers, etc.

He did some studio work for Donna Summer and none of his guitars were at home at the time so he bought a $25 guitar at the local Guitar Center to do studio work for Donna Summer.

P.S.  Jeff Baxter also worked with the DOD to develop weapons systems for national defense.

I'm not so sure I agree. Take me.. I play medium level. I am no way a professional piano player.. at all.
but if you give me a good instrument. I can play pretty good. I think there are two types of players.. the advanced and the cheaters?   I am more of a cheater type...   I really dont read music.. just the basics.
what say you? I'm more scared of the thing... the computer part of it. Bob is encouraging me.. you get that. LOL by the time i'm done- you're gonna be buying one.

I don't read music either...at least not on a functional professional level. 

But I still think yer choice of keyboards is a good one...you sure don't need a high dollar keyboard.

A few months ago.. I was thinkin.. I need to upgrade.  saw a thing called a Tyros........ on you tube.. so I headed over to ebay to look them up... 3-6K. lol Outta my league.
I picked this song out because I already play it well. AND I had a bf in a band.. and he hated it. He said it was too commercialized.  Told him to f- himself. My mother at the time thought he was hot..She said " if only I was younger." guess where he is now... Doing time!!! true...

I don't like circus sounds...I like more traditional sounds like piano, etc.

I like um- electric piano sounds.. bells.. Things like that. The thing I'm buying has beautiful piano sounds too. I'm excited. to me this is a ultimate toy- no no 
I had a beautiful candy apple red electric guitar.. It was too darn heavy for me. Bought it at a yard sale for under a 100?
Had a beautiful sound.. I should have kept it. Some of these instruments.. I would sit on the floor and play them indian style ..

If I bought...say, an electric piano I would be happy with a little reverb and/or chorus effect.  I do the same with a guitar...just fattin up the sound a little but not too much.

well.. I used to play my mob bosses Roland in the salad bar. It was a*** pretend*** restaurant.  Plenty of time. Roalnd was huge.. It was a beautiful instrument. But it was like a piano. So a person really had to know. how to professionally play it.. I remember the day.. I was pizzed off at him.. Hey Gus ? can you play the boxer..
hour later- I heard this on guitar.. outta the blue.. he would steal the triple A signs off other restuarants.. I had to luv him

But I try not to judge.. I mean how can a person choose... between.. willy nelson- elton john- the country singers......... Toto? nobody is the best? I look at music as all pretty good and maybe equal in their own right??. They all make a few great songs?  Clapton- Springsteen.  etc etc...

Yep...I learned to appreciate Dylan later in life.
