We have deer and turkey right off our back porch. My wife would never let me shoot one on our property, though. Somehow, as long as I go kill one in a WMA from a tree stand, it's not like killing the "family deer".roadkill » 29 Aug 2022, 9:27 am » wrote: ↑ I haven't hunted in years...but there's plenty of elk and deer around here.
We have deer all over the neighborhood and turkey within blocks of my place.Skans » 29 Aug 2022, 9:31 am » wrote: ↑ We have deer and turkey right off our back porch. My wife would never let me shoot one on our property, though.
That sure is a big 'ol fish - nice catch. I'd fish if I could ever just get over the tast of fish. After years of fishing and eating fish as a kid, I finely resolved that I simply dislike the taste of fish. No use in killing what you won't eat!roadkill » 29 Aug 2022, 9:34 am » wrote: ↑ We have deer all over the neighborhood and turkey within blocks of my place.

I can choke some fish down if I have to. Lots of fish will make me wretch. But, compared to a nice beef steak, I can't see how there is any comparison. Sometimes I crave a good steak so much that when I get one done perfectly to my taste, I actually get a 'buzz" from eating it.roadkill » 29 Aug 2022, 9:44 am » wrote: ↑ Agreed. There's always catch & release though.
I love fish...or at least most fish.
You should probably get your balls out of your wife’s purse while she’s sleeping.Skans

Honestly, I can tell there aren't enough folks hunting deer anymore. Their populations seem out of control to me.

Best clip I've seen in a week!!! That was one heck of a shot. Dropped that Bear almost immediately. Man, you've got to have some serious courage to use a bow hunting that bear. Gotta wonder if someone was there with a rifle for backup. If that shot was just a little off - what was her backup plan?

It was a good shot nonetheless. But, I too suspect rifle backup, and yeah, if that's the case, then the "danger factor" was somewhat faked. If there was no rifle backup - damn, that was a stupid thing to do!!roadkill » 29 Aug 2022, 6:05 pm » wrote: ↑ Seems someone else was there. If it was rifle backup then I'm not impressed.

Too many of the original Land Owners have sold out to Developers and this area is no longer like living in a National Forest where my nearest neighbor lived 1/4 mile away.
I laugh when I hear people complaining about wild boar.
I would love to have a meat locker full of those mother ****......
We shoot from the porch. Usually in season. Smirk.Skans » 29 Aug 2022, 9:11 am » wrote: ↑ It's close to Hunting Season. The off-balance is not due to under-hunting of deer. It's due to our creating more pasture land and eradicating predators.Skans » 29 Aug 2022, 9:31 am » wrote: ↑ We have deer and turkey right off our back porch. Meat's expensive and deer corn is cheap. None of us are mathematorians, but we managed the minimal cypherin' on this equation.
