Here's something that has always bugged me...people who have a grizzly bear as a pet.
Hey, something has to keep Youtube interesting! Can't wait for the Part II video where the bear swats the guy's head.....and it comes off.roadkill » 26 Oct 2022, 11:16 am » wrote: ↑ Here's something that has always bugged me...people who have a grizzly bear as a pet.
IMO it's stupid and irresponsible. These guys that hug and play with their pet grizzly are playing a game of potential death.

15 bags of seed oats for planting my deer food plots cost $28.00/50 lb bag this year. Last season I paid $8.90/50 lb bag. Corn is $11.00/50 lb bag. Last season I paid $9.50/50 lb bag.Skans » 29 Aug 2022, 9:11 am » wrote: ↑ It's close to Hunting Season. Who here is going to remember the days when there were no grocery stores, but you had to catch and prepare your own food? Deer? Boar (it's always Boar season)? Turkey? Big Deer (Elk)? I've got to find some new hunting buddies, so I'm not that prepared this season. What about y'all?

75% of the meat I eat is whitetail deer and wild hog that I kill off my 100 acres. I will eat turkey but don't really care for it.
I was going to say, that's a lot of money for feed. But, for you, it's a primary meat source, so yeah, definitely worth the investment! I have to ask, why the seed oats? I would just use corn. Taste? Marbling?Buffalo » 28 Oct 2022, 8:24 am » wrote: ↑ 15 bags of seed oats for planting my deer food plots cost $28.00/50 lb bag this year. Last season I paid $8.90/50 lb bag. Corn is $11.00/50 lb bag. No wild elk here in Central Texas. They say that Axis deer are moving north. There is no season on them but I have yet to see any. Their meat is the best!!!roadkill » 28 Oct 2022, 8:32 am » wrote: ↑ White tail is my favorite wild meat...although elk is very good too. I've never had wild hog and I don't like wild turkey either.
Oats are not only an attractant but also excellent food for deer. I would have foregone the oat planting because of cost but had already committed to buy them.Skans » 28 Oct 2022, 8:42 am » wrote: ↑ I was going to say, that's a lot of money for feed. I have a buddy that lives in Corpus Christi partners on a charter fishing boat. He comes hunting on my place and I go there an he takes me fishing in the gulf.
I am usually stocked up on red snapper, flounder and occasionally tuna.
Yeah, maybe good for the deer, but how does it translate into the meat taste? They love corn, and corn 'll fatten them up. Deer meat is already quite lean. Now, if oats add to the meat's flavor, that's what I want to know.Buffalo » 28 Oct 2022, 8:57 am » wrote: ↑ Oats are not only an attractant but also excellent food for deer. I don't like bobcats. They're not a protected species, are they? I understand there is supposed to be a wild one around our property. Would like to be able to dispatch it if it is legal.

Wow...this is amazing. I've heard over the years that antelope go under fences not over them. Guess this ends that myth. This is a monster herd.Skans » 29 Aug 2022, 9:11 am » wrote: ↑ It's close to Hunting Season.
