They keep a feller up all night saying "To be or not to be, that is the question" and quoting Schopenhauer and Fichte.

HM #1...? or maybe HM #2...?
I hear that McD might be coming out with a HM #3 pretty soon..!
Are you pretty excited to hear about that Little Buckeroo...?
Odds are he wants to to believe he does.
Introducing predators is a bad idea, because there is no species that will only attack and kill deer, but not small humans, dogs and other pets. Yes, we need hunters to hunt and kill deer. Hopefully, they enjoy the meat gained from their hunting. The only other alternative is to 1) pass draconian laws that punnish those who unnaturally provide food for deer (i.e. deer-corn feeders), then 2) allow the deer to die off naturally from starvation and disease. It would be better for all if people would just hunt them.Xavier_Onassis » 08 Sep 2022, 9:51 am » wrote: ↑ Odds are he wants to to believe he does.
Again, if hunters do not hunt deer, then the alternative is to restock the area with natural predators who will kill and eat the excess game. Do any of you see a better alternative?
Well, small humans should learn how to hunt. But the deer population will not all die off. They will multiply and some streets and roads will be transformed into Dodge 'em. Do what you want. Deer are not a problem in Miami. We do have possums and raccoons.Skans » 08 Sep 2022, 10:09 am » wrote: ↑ Introducing predators is a bad idea, because there is no species that will only attack and kill deer, but not small humans, dogs and other pets. Mountain lions and panthers? No thanks, I don't care what happens to the deer population enough to want them around. There's only so much venison a man can eat, though. What needs to happen is a relaxing of hunting restrictions. Allow an open hunting season without tags and permits for a couple of weeks, especially if hunting on your own land.Xavier_Onassis » 08 Sep 2022, 11:36 am » wrote: ↑ Well, small humans should learn how to hunt. If someone wants to lure deer into a target area to shoot them, that is fine with me, so long as I am not in range.

The sheetmetal cylinder was uncurled....it took a lot of force to form that cylinder in the first place..!

Coyotes are a bit puny and might not look upon mature deer as a meal. You're right about dogs - overfed pets that have lost their killer instinct. Heck, you could say that about most people too.
What's the woman waiting for - shoot the freaking thing already!!

You'd have to dispose of the body so that it doesn't infect other animals.roadkill » 14 Sep 2022, 8:38 am » wrote: ↑ She was thinking about it...but someone in the other vehicle called the authorities and they said now that it's been report they couldn't shoot it.
But I agree with you...just shoot the poor animal.

After thinking this through, you are probably right. If it was on my property I would have definitely shot it and probably incinerated it before burying any remains. I've got a bunch of boxes and wood piling up to burn anyway.roadkill » 14 Sep 2022, 9:05 am » wrote: ↑ Absolutely...maybe that's why the authorities didn't want those people to shoot it. Probably a good idea to let the authorities dispose of it.
No small mouth there! I take it that's a muskie? Some folks fish for them all their lives and never catch one (at least they did mid-last century).roadkill » 29 Aug 2022, 9:34 am » wrote: ↑ We have deer all over the neighborhood and turkey within blocks of my place.

I've had blackened fish. Most fish, I wouldn't touch. Blackened Dolphin (refuse to call it Mahi) can be ok, if its fresh. Still, even that has a slight "fishy" taste. The bottom line is that I really love eating a good steak. Fish costs about the same price as a good steak. So, what's the point choking down a piece of fish that might not make me gag over a slab of juicy steak that makes me feel like I'm in heaven while I'm chewing it?

Authorities have a way of telling you that what you did was wrong. They are never actually an authority on anything - just bureaucrats looking for someone to jack around for not following their rules. I'd rather have a rabid animal on my land than nosy bureaucrats.roadkill » 14 Sep 2022, 9:21 am » wrote: ↑ Or shoot it...THEN call the authorities.
