Money paid into the system is paid out to those who are retired or otherwise eligible to be paid by the system. The whole scheme was devised and put into service in Germany by Otto Von Bismarck. In other words, you receive NOTHING as a return on what you paid in. You're purchasing power will be less than what you paid in almost without exception. You would have to live to 110 just to break even with inflation. Not what I would call an "investment".
It is inexcusable for the fund to be deficient when you consider half don't even survive long enough to collect and get nothing. The ones who do survive the government doesn't even pay enough to beat inflation? Ridiculous! Of course the government doesn't invest the money at all. They use the profits (and they are large) to help offset what they tell the public is the deficit.
I tell you what, you give me 15% of your pay for 40 years. I will give every penny of it back to you from the time you turn 67 until you turn 85. No interest on the loan, just what you gave me. Deal?Xavier_Onassis » 08 Sep 2022, 4:37 pm » wrote: ↑ Money paid into the system is paid out to those who are retired or otherwise eligible to be paid by the system. I doubt that one needs to live to 110 years old to get back all they paid in. I do not doubt that someone told you this, and you believed them. My father, who was an accountant and an auditor, retired at age 65 and told me that he got back all the money that he paid in before he turned 69. But that was a long time ago.

Is it any wonder they have to force people to participate. And you don't have to be an actuarial to figure out it's a bad deal.
And if you die before 67 it is mine to keep.
Okay Okay Okay!!!!! You drive a hard bargain. I'll give you 2% interest to make up for 1/2 to 1/3 of the inflation I cause.

Actually, there are quite a number of excellent books about third reich plumbing advancements. Hitler was greatly admired for those advancements.LibDave » 07 Sep 2022, 6:23 pm » wrote: ↑ I'm going to have to start blocking you if you have nothing more to contribute other than, "Jew This, Jew That, Fascism This, Fascism That, Hitler was a nice guy" crap!
No matter the subject he always sees it as related to how wonderful a guy Hitler was. The subject could be plumbing and he would say, "Well you know Hitler had the most cost effective means of dealing with leaky pipes through the use of Fascism".

Therefore you are ENTITLED to receive SS when you retire or are disabled, according to the rules.

How about a substantive thread. For example expenditures.
What are your priorities for government spending and cuts? Do we need more or less government?

The Lib in LibDave does indeed stand for Libertarian. I am not liberal. I am conservative. Not Republican although I do align Republican on economic issues. Something I've studied for many years. The Democrats just have no understanding of economics and do far too much damage and inflict far too much hardship on the poor.peepee » 09 Sep 2022, 11:13 am » wrote: ↑ ...he claims the 'lib' is 'libertarian'...[as if puppet trump and his cacksuckers are somehow 'libertarian']...i sense he's just a republican who smokes dope...he does appear to have some knowledge about bitcoin...

A fair review of your posts indicates as far as an understanding of economics and monetary policy you have been found wanting. And, BTW, you're about damn near illiterate. As a fascist, is your first language German? English doesn't appear to be your first language when viewing your writing.peepee » 09 Sep 2022, 11:25 am » wrote: ↑

Oh, and did your monkey shrink? The other night your girl thought it might be due to your hormone injections.
