The Queen did not retire and pass the crown on to Charles, because British kings never retire. They can renounce the throne, but she would never do that, and neither Charles nor the people would favor that.

Thats funny.. because I was thinking the same thing. Maybe I never had any interest in her.. Because she was kind of ugly- and spit out some homely kids.. Maybe she was a nice person.. I dunno. But those brits put on some of their comedy on our channel 12.. talk about some bad crap.

The queen was a nice lady and did what was expected of her 99% of the time. Her children were not ugly, but they did have early hair loss. Charles got along better with the woman he eventually married than with Lady Di.
Lady Di was an actual tragic figure in the classical sense of the word. She was very nice, ans had perhaps too much charisma for the House of Windsor.
We will see more about her than perhaps we wish to over the next weeks.
On PBS they ran a special, which I imagine they have been working on for the past ten years or so.
One thing they did not mention was the even when the Queen meant Trump.
They showed her greeting Obama and hugging Michelle.
