Dude...Wikipedia is a lot more reliable than some random history forumPastafarian » 08 Sep 2022, 5:13 pm » wrote: ↑ Anyone can write on Wikipedia. It isn’t always correct.
I found an historical source and posted it.
They did not lie. Aircraft carriers were used in the Pacific, Atlantic, Africa and Italy but they could not be used for aircraft Ilona the English Channel. They carried ground artillery, jeeps and planes. But the planes did not take off from them on D-Day. After the invasion tge carriers were relocated in tge waters northwest of yge Uk.FOS » 08 Sep 2022, 5:09 pm » wrote: ↑ You are still denying basic Wikipedia facts man?
What's the conspiracy? Why is Wikipedia pretending there were aircraft carriers in the Normandy invasion?
Why would they lie?

How does this change anything? You are just in agreement that those are aircraft carriers and were used for Normandy? That FOS cited the wiki for HMS Emporer but withheld the wiki for HMS Tracker and HMS Pursuer shows FOS for a dishonest Nazi **** attempting to lie his way into a "win on the internet".

Didn't many of the landing craft launch from carriers? I know most of the air support flew in from surrounding territories.....Pastafarian » 08 Sep 2022, 5:12 pm » wrote: ↑ I never mentioned the Pacific.
**** Von Suckadick made the claim that aircraft carriers were needed to invade the UK.
I mentioned that there were no aircraft carriers used for aircraft on D-Day.
So if by ignorance you mean his then you’re right on the money.
He ended up changing his argument to they WERE carriers, but they weren't needed for planes because of nearby land bases - which are ALWAYS preferable to seaborn takeoffs and landings.FOS » 08 Sep 2022, 1:55 pm » wrote: ↑ It's **** amazing. This dude out of nowhere then just asserts there were no aircraft carriers present on d day.
I'm like...wtf? And after a quick Google search I discover the allies had 3 carriers present...hms emperor, hms tracker, and hms pursuer.
So clearly the dude just made up his story that there were no aircraft carriers...and why make that up? It's so easy to prove him wrong.
But here's the amazing g thing...I showed him proof and just a simple wiki page of one of these carriers:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Emperor_(D98)
And the dude refuses to admit this is an aircraft carrier. Seriously.
Despite the **** table clearly stating that it carried 24 aircraft...pasta STILL refuses to admit mistake ..
HOW? Lol...and why is it always the lefty psychology that is like this?
Pastafarian » 08 Sep 2022, 3:03 pm » wrote: ↑ Much of the allied airpower used in the invasion was for ground attack and for bombing. The aircraft used for these purposes weren't designed to operate from carriers. Also, the airfields of Southern England were only 25 minutes flying time to Normandy and the allies had so many ground based aircraft, carriers weren't needed.

Aircraft carriers were not a major part of the assault on D-Day, in any case.
Was THAT for the win?Pastafarian » 08 Sep 2022, 4:04 pm » wrote: ↑ they weren’t as useful as you made them out to be
Im not wrong
But no...he isn't even correct where he landed. The carriers were of course using planes...and no launching from a land base is not always preferable. I mean of course the closer you are to something the faster you can respond. And of course if there were no planes on an aircraft carrier then you can't say it contributed to a battle lolCannonpointer » 08 Sep 2022, 6:27 pm » wrote: ↑ He ended up changing his argument to they WERE carriers, but they weren't needed for planes because of nearby land bases - which are ALWAYS preferable to seaborn takeoffs and landings.
And it appears he is correct about where he finally landed - it was the goalpost-moving panty dance that got him there which was a **** HOOT.
Seriously - I was falling over laughing at that **** while refuting him with his own posts.
