If I am armed, and another man lays hands on me, he's going down - no question. I am no kind of cop lover. But the fact that the assault victim who stood his ground is an off duty cop has no bearing on the fact that he was at HIS HOME, and was assaulted at HIS HOME.

The shooter acted as a citizen - not s a cop. He was at home - not on duty. He was assaulted: another man laid hands on him in anger. That moron was a bullet magnet, and now he's a house plant.
Pretend the shooter was black You would be taking his side. You would clearly see the bullet magnet sat pretty for it, attacking a man with a gun. Never bring a mouth and a shove to a gun fight.
