I've been here in Florida since 87, but lived some year up in CT. and we'd catch Bass up there --- some nice Small Mouth, and also Largemouth.. 

      Here in Florida they do land some Trophy Largemouth --- particularly in Lake Okeechobee, which is famous for it.... 
        
Yep. Stoked for sure! I thought at any minute I'd lose it during the fight. Second largest I caught was just around 7 pounds in that same pond. They had aligator snapping turtles there as well as pickerel and shiners (small minnows). They also had eels which would bite on bait, and I can't remember the name they had for them. Those turtles would come up and rip the fish off your stringer if you left them in the water. 
Fireflies in the evening. Interesting place for sure, especially since I was from the NW.

             One thing I recall is the Freshwater Fish we caught up there were much much better eating than the ones here.... The ones here in Florida tend to have that Muddy taste like the water they live in... The Trout, Smallmouth, Crappie and Walleye were all outstanding... Down here it's far more about the saltwater fishing, which is some of the best in the country...
