The only thing in human existence more powerful than a hero is a martyr. Trump is a polarizing figure with the uncanny ability to energize liberals and never trumpers, even inspiring otherwise stable people to violate law an lose their civility. His running in 2024 is likely to drive more never Trump people to the polls to ensure his defeat. His indictment, regardless of the charges, would have the opposite impact.

We don't normally associate "martyrdom" with "self service", "pathological lying" and "endless whinging"...
Clearly we need to expand the definition.

Trump enjoys the same presumption of innocence we all do. I don't think there is anything he needs to be vindicated for as he's yet to be charged. After nearly 8 years of spying and leaking and investigating not a single charge.
