I probably should have clarified. His conclusion wasn't based on actual incidents. It was based on different guidelines that food trucks undergo in Nevada. They still go through inspections, but they are not subjected to the same requirements as other restaurants are subjected to. Therefore, though they have no eye-raising record of unsanitary conditions, he wants them to be subjected to the same requirements.Neo » 03 Dec 2022, 7:48 pm » wrote: ↑ No. Food trucks that fail inspections or don't follow health guidelines shouldn't be allowed to operate. I thought about doing a food truck as a side gig, lots of regulations that many don't seem to bother to follow. Most trucks in my area would be banned if they followed the laws.

In a public hearing that lasted more than an hour, Las Vegas Foodie Fest/Great American Foodie Fest founder Noel Casimiro represented the owners of the lot, speaking before and after the City Council heard comments from the public. Those comments, made in person and submitted via email, were overwhelmingly opposed to the project.
A dozen people lined up to tell the council why they opposed the project, citing concerns such as garbage, noise, traffic and lighting. Another 14 people — including Arts District landlords, business owners and residents — submitted comments electronically in opposition. Not a single member of the public showed up to speak in support of the plan, although one electronic comment in support was read into the record....
The Las Vegas City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to deny permission to use a vacant Arts District lot as a space for hosting up to 10 food trucks,

One of our commissioners is adamant about banning food trucks on the basis of health code violations. However, he is also the president of a non-profit restaurant association that is mostly funded, or maybe even fully funded, by a network of the high-end restaurants on the strip (MGM, Wynn, Etc...).
A lot of food trucks tend to park within walking distance just off the strip. They do great business.
So, the commissioner wants these food trucks banned, but also is the president of a highly influential restaurant association that is funded by high-end restaurants on the strip, which just happens to be where quite a few food trucks park themselves.
Is that a conflict of interest?
