Well...you’re wrong. There's plenty that can be done. Top of the list, start with the repeal of the 2nd Amendment. But that's just a start.DeplorablePatriot » 17 Dec 2022, 7:49 pm » wrote: ↑ IF I were a leftist, and an honest one at that (fat chance), I would give the ONLY correct answer. Oh, yeah...that would be "NOTHING." There's nothing that can be done to prevent school shootings. Reduced? Yes. But that can only be done through the most stringent security measures and has nothing to do with taking guns off the market or making them illegal.
Nothing is stopping you from starting or joining a gross roots effort to propose a convention for amendment.IkeBana » 18 Dec 2022, 2:07 pm » wrote: ↑ Well...you’re wrong. There's plenty that can be done. Top of the list, start with the repeal of the 2nd Amendment. But that's just a start.

Already have the votes in the illinois legislature. A former colleage, now in her third term in the Illinois House says there are easily 2/3 of the House that would support a repeal of the 2nd Amendment. And she's working with the Illinois senate where Democrats have a better than 2/3 majority. So...step one.Huey » 18 Dec 2022, 2:20 pm » wrote: ↑ Nothing is stopping you from starting or joining a gross roots effort to propose a convention for amendment.
Good luck.
That is what the amendment process is for.IkeBana » 18 Dec 2022, 3:23 pm » wrote: ↑ Already have the votes in the illinois legislature. Of course many of us would also support a new US Constututional Convention that would replace this ridiculous antiquity we struggle with today with something that fits with the actual world and country we live in.
If you repeal the 2nd, who gets to have guns?IkeBana » 18 Dec 2022, 2:07 pm » wrote: ↑ Well...you’re wrong. There's plenty that can be done. Top of the list, start with the repeal of the 2nd Amendment. But that's just a start.

ARE YOU PERSONALLY COMING TO MY HOUSE TO TAKE MY GUNS AWAY?
Yeh...sure and gay marriage is never going to be legalized. And state laws banning interracial marriage will never be outlawed. And weed will never be legalized.
What did it do in the UK? Or all over the EU? Check the EU firearms homicide rates. The US homicide rate per 100,000 is 40 times the rate in the UK....40 **** times.Vegas » 18 Dec 2022, 2:36 pm » wrote: ↑ The thing about criminals is that couldn't care less about laws. WTF is repealing the 2nd amendment going to do to get criminals to care about gun violence?

The UK passed their gun laws within a year after their first mass shooting. No handguns, no assault rifles, no gas operated firearms, no recoil operated firearms, no revolvers, no magazine loaded firearms. Want a hunting rifle or shotgun, sure, apply, see if you pass the requirements, pay for your gun license, and pay for your yearly area hunting license. Let either license lapse, the police come to your house and take your **** gun away. Guns ownership is not illegal in the UK. Gun ownership is controlled in the UK...fairly controlled.
