Exxon And Chevron Set For Record $100 Billion In Profits In 2022

Exxon And Chevron Set For Record $100 Billion In Profits In 2022

By Tsvetana Paraskova - Jan 02, 2023, 6:00 PM CST

The surge in oil and gas prices will translate into record-high 2022 earnings for the two U.S. supermajors, Exxon and Chevron, with their combined yearly profits hitting nearly $100 billion, analysts say.   The two oil and gas giants benefited from the soaring price of oil and gas following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Although oil prices traded below $90 per barrel in the last weeks of 2022 and prices increased on an annual basis by only around 10% last year compared to 2021, extreme volatility and the frequent surges above $100 per barrel helped all oil firms, including the biggest American integrated companies, generate record or near-record quarterly profits and cash flows.     Profits for 2022 would be at record highs. Chevron posted its highest-ever quarterly profits for the second quarter, thanks to high oil and gas prices and tight fuel markets driving multi-year high refining margins. For Q3, Chevron recorded its second-highest quarterly profit ever on the back of increased oil and gas demand and increased U.S. production. Exxon booked a record $19.66 billion profit for the third quarter, beating the previous record of $17.9 billion it booked for the previous quarter.

Braindead biden stopping domestic oil production and then begging tyrants and dictators for oil also set prices high. Why would oil companies want to support republicans when it is the dim-0-craps in control of Congress and the White House that have allowed these profits? Reduced expenditure on development and exploration = record profits. Artificial shortages driven by politics = record profits. Braindead biden's the best friend "Big Oil" has ever had. Doesn't matter how much he demonizes them, they're laughing all the way to the bank.

Besides, how much money do federal and states government make from fuel taxes without doing one thing to earn that money?

Better than under Trump where they were going bankrupt.

Hey DIAPERboy, oil companies have absolutely ZERO control over oil prices. ABSOLUTELY zero. Which ALSO means they have NEAR ZERO control over profits AND LOSSES.

So do their LOSSES in 2020 get OFFSET by "record profits"???

Consider that in the past 10 years, major oil and gas companies suffered tremendous losses in 2014, 2015, and 2020. In fact, in 2020 the five integrated supermajors (i.e., “Big Oil”) – ExxonMobil, BP, Shell, Chevron, and Total – lost $76 billion. Oil prices plunged into negative territory in 2020. Were the oil companies feeling especially generous then?

But in your little DIAPER wearing COMMIE mind, anyone making a dollar profit is "evil" and needs to be destroyed.

Over HALF of all Americans pay ZERO in income taxes, DIAPERboy. That would include "workers". Those "evil rich" pay nearly 90% of ALL Income taxes collected, poopymouth.

Did your handlers fail in telling you that??

It is obvious your lack of understanding about crude oil and natural gas pricing and its relation to oil company profits.  Braindead biden and his wacko green environment war on fossil fuels is the best friend "big oil" could ask for.

The price of a barrel of crude was as low as $35 a barrel under Trump because he believed in American energy dominance.  In effect, it was a massive tax cut for lower and middle income earners of tens of billions of dollars a year!!!

What is painfully obvious to all but you greenie wackos,  braindead biden and his dim-0-crap apparatchiks is that the renewable energy push and the subsidies for electric cars and their polluting electric batteries aren’t going to change our fossil fuel energy demands for years. So, it is only a question of whether we get the oil from here at home or from some of our major adversaries, such as Russia and/or Venezuela, *******.

So, braindead biden's energy plan is bad for jobs, bad for consumers, and bad for the environment. My prediction is that global and U.S. carbon emissions are going way up.

The irony of of all this is that the oil and gas industry that braindead biden and his greenie apparatchiks, like you, hate the most is benefiting from his foolish, ill-conceived policies.

The working class is NOT being punished by high taxes!!!  They are being punished with the high inflation of $3.65/gallon gas, 12% food inflation and 17% higher energy costs to heat their homes this winter, ALL caused by braindead biden's ill-conceived war on fossil fuels.

Goddamn, it takes a ****, liberal, communist idiot like you, not to see that!!!

you're a **** idiot, Buffy..

At $35/bbl the vast bulk of drillers in the US are going broke.

According to a 2022 survey, the average oil producer operating in the Eagle Ford oilfield in the U.S. needed WTI oil prices to amount to a minimum of 48 U.S. dollars per barrel in order to profitably drill a new well.
