The only firearm I would put in the really nice category is my Henry Big Boy 45 Long Colt. It is a lever action.DeezerShoove » 18 Feb 2023, 12:53 pm » wrote: ↑ I have both, too.
You can find beauty in just about anything.
Well, maybe not a concrete block . . . but you know what I mean.![]()
I always liked Henry rifles. Don't have one through.Huey » 18 Feb 2023, 3:35 pm » wrote: ↑ The only firearm I would put in the really nice category is my Henry Big Boy 45 Long Colt. It is a lever action.
I only have two 9s. One is an EZ. The other. Shield 9plus which I love. The Henry is great. No kick, on target and fun to shoot.DeezerShoove » 18 Feb 2023, 7:18 pm » wrote: ↑ I always liked Henry rifles. Don't have one through.
I was going to try for a "companion theme" with my collection.
5.7x28 pistol and carbine.
45 long revolver and maybe a Henry.
That kind of thing. I mean, how many 9mm pistols does a guy need anyway?
I have a Judge, too.Huey » 18 Feb 2023, 7:28 pm » wrote: ↑ I only have two 9s. One is an EZ. The other. Shield 9plus which I love. The Henry is great. No kick, on target and fun to shoot.
I also have a judge and a cheap Winchester shotgun.
I have the judge for home defense. I’m not a big guy, normal sized hands, and I love how it shoots. Heavy enough to control the kick.Huey » 18 Feb 2023, 7:28 pm » wrote: ↑ I only have two 9s. I would like to have the Henry 30-30. I had a beater 30-30 that I ended up giving back to the guy who sold it to me. Long story, but I'm glad he's got it back.DeezerShoove » 18 Feb 2023, 7:18 pm » wrote: ↑ I always liked Henry rifles. Don't have one through.

You'll be safe, but perhaps deaf if you ever have to use it!Huey » 18 Feb 2023, 7:43 pm » wrote: ↑ I have the judge for home defense. I’m not a big guy, normal sized hands, and I love how it shoots. Heavy enough to control the kick.
Pricey as hell. It was supposed to start coming down as the 57 and the carbine sales took off a bit.Skans » 17 Feb 2023, 4:25 pm » wrote: ↑ That really is a nice looking piece by Ruger. How is the ammo cost?
I can imagine lots of ways to get hurt too.murdock » 17 Feb 2023, 1:25 pm » wrote: ↑ Bad idea, especially if some piece of **** criminal has hold of one of your arms.
A finely tuned Raven25?Skans » 16 Feb 2023, 9:48 am » wrote: ↑ The db9 is lighter, cheaper and more finicky when it comes to ammo. Yes, you do get what you pay for in the gun world. If someone made a better version of the db9, I'd snap it up. And, if someone made a good quality da/sa version of the db9 - I'd pay a big premium to get one. So far, it's the smallest, slimmest micro-9 available.
You don't do humor well.
When it costs as much as a 9mm to practice with, I really will consider one of those.PlumHollow » 22 Feb 2023, 8:46 pm » wrote: ↑ Pricey as hell. It was supposed to start coming down as the 57 and the carbine sales took off a bit.
Still has a ways to go but it is a nice performer, no recoil really.
Raven .25 is a total POS. I have a Jennings J-22 which actually still works. Cheaply made and you MUST keep it clean, but it works. Made a barely acceptable motorcycle jacket inner pocket gun for me to carry when I was riding across the US.
FYI, I also have a Lorcin .380 (someone gave it to me, I will eventually destroy it). I practice my fluff&Buff on it occasionally. Got the feed ramp mirror polished. Polished the slide rails and fire-control components as well. I haven't shot it, just like practicing some polishing techniques on it.
Sounds good. At least you're getting something out of it like self training.Skans » 23 Feb 2023, 10:52 am » wrote: ↑ FYI, I also have a Lorcin .380 (someone gave it to me, I will eventually destroy it). Check it out, there are 2 people actually bidding on this Lorcin .380 - bidding is up to $11.
I think I shot one once. I don't remember being impressed.Skans » 23 Feb 2023, 9:02 am » wrote: ↑ Raven .25 is a total POS. I have a Jennings J-22 which actually still works. That's all its good for. Playing with the cheap metal parts. I would never try and shoot some of the newer .380 defensive rounds out of it. Heck, unless I come across some free .380, I may never shoot it. I only have one other .380 gun, the Colt Mustang, and I don't shoot it either.PlumHollow » 23 Feb 2023, 11:42 am » wrote: ↑ Sounds good. Maybe $12 bucks if the bidding continues at a furious pace.
If it didn't hurt you, then you likely didn't shoot it a lot. Because slide-bite is pretty bad on the little J-22, unless you hold it just right. From time to time I'll shoot it just to see if it still works, and I forget to hold it in a way to protect the web of my hand. Ouch!PlumHollow » 23 Feb 2023, 11:44 am » wrote: ↑ I think I shot one once. I don't remember being impressed.
Didn't hurt me so I guess I can't bitch.
Yeah, I meant the Raven. Didn't blow up or anything. I'm usually quite careful when I hear, "Try this one..." But I have had a couple reminder scrapes from a slide or two. I never held a J22.Skans » 23 Feb 2023, 12:10 pm » wrote: ↑ If it didn't hurt you, then you likely didn't shoot it a lot.
