The US has long spent more annually for military than the next 10 biggest spending countries including Russia and China. Yet the Pentagon cannot even pass a financial audit, nor can it account for over $21 TRILLION of that money spent between 1998 and 2015. Why does Congress not held accountable for that **** incompetence before anymore taxpayer money is wasted?
No wonder the US is for all intents and purposes BROKE while 535 members of Congress on salaries of $174,000/year become MILLIONAIRES in just a few short years. Where is the accountability?

The Sequester determined the distribution of the cuts.

Do not take me wrong!!! I am all for a strong, well equipped military. But I am fully convinced that the whole of federal government is corrupt to the core and nobody is EVER held to account.ROG62 » 07 Jan 2023, 12:06 pm » wrote: ↑ it's all for the greater good of the politicians and the military industrial complex...
$21T...quite the joke... I love how they all pretend to care until their money rolls in...then it just becomes a public virtue signaling to pull the wool over the public's eyes...
I agree totally especially when 'no one knows' where $21T went...Buffalo » 07 Jan 2023, 12:30 pm » wrote: ↑ Do not take me wrong!!! I am all for a strong, well equipped military. But I am fully convinced that the whole of federal government is corrupt to the core and nobody is EVER held to account.
China has just as sophisticated weapons systems as the US does and seems (regardless of what the bidens and the rest of the crooked, corrupt politicians that are on China's "payroll" allude to) a bigger threat every passing year, yet manage to get by on a measly $229 BILLION in military spending... Hmmm...

DEFENSE CUTS PROPOSED PRIOR TO SEQUESTRATION
In its fiscal year 2012 budget request, the Department of Defense committed to cutting its own budget by $78 billion over the next five years. Two months later, President Obama announced his intention to seek an additional $400 billion in defense cuts over the next 12 years. In effect, the Budget Control Act, aside from the automatic enforcement mechanisms of sequester and revised caps, substantially reflects the defense cuts President Obama was already planning. It would be difficult to find similar proposals from Democrats for other agencies.https://www.rpc.senate.gov/policy-paper ... fense-cuts
- As CRSpoints out, the Obama Administration’s projection for defense spending after the BCA would reduce defense budgets by $487 billion from fiscal years 2012 to 2021 when compared to the fiscal year 2012 request, which was submitted in February 2011, prior to the BCA.
- That is roughly equivalent to the $478 billion in cuts it had announced prior to BCA enactment.
- Moreover, cuts to the Defense Department comprised approximately half of the total amount of discretionary spending cuts required by the Budget Control Act even though it comprises approximately 20 percent of total federal spending.

All this communique from Ernst does is confirm that defense and non-defense spending split the discretionary spending cuts equally.
Then she goes on to befuddle Slack Jaws by making an entirely irrelevant reference to defense's share of the TOTAL federal budget.
By letting it go to Sequester, the GOP did nothing more than give Obama the cuts he originally proposed.
To demonstrate what a hysterical twat you are, what part of the annual defense budget does the cut represent?
