My neighbors can't even see my yard. Mostly wooded until you get up close to the house, then I've got some lawn, but just near the house. Still, I like to keep the wooded areas debris-free and thinned out a bit.sootedupCyndi » 07 Jul 2023, 12:30 pm » wrote: ↑ Not to me! But when we lived in town... Old Mr.Shaw was so upset.. We had weeds with flowers that separated the two houses - with white flowers. called Queen Anns lace.
I smoozed him- and he was mowing our lawn with his rider for free... thank you Mr. Shaw.

We're very rural here.Skans » 07 Jul 2023, 12:37 pm » wrote: ↑ My neighbors can't even see my yard. Mostly wooded until you get up close to the house, then I've got some lawn, but just near the house. Still, I like to keep the wooded areas debris-free and thinned out a bit.
I can tell which neighbors are outside by what guns they are shooting. The neighbor to the left and on-down the hill - he shoots mostly pistol, and only occasionally a rifle. The guy down the hill and to the right - he's a slow rifle shooter. Then there's a guy way off to the left of the cow pasture behind my back woods and I think he shoots a .22 rifle, by the sound of it.
That's how it is!!! I've been meaning to do a little late-night coyote hunting, but it's too hot out, too many mosquitos and I'm too lazy. Maybe when it cools down a bit.sootedupCyndi » 07 Jul 2023, 12:47 pm » wrote: ↑ We're very rural here.
One night about midnight- I hear gunshots.. pop from way up the road...
I ran for the gun- for fun- I could do that?. Shot it off in the middle of the night. POP.
next thing i hear is gunshots from down the other end...
and more from up the road.... funny stuff...Dont mess with us rednecks. LOL
I don't believe you. Because we have those- and they are very elusive. I have never ever seen one! I hear them howling.Skans » 07 Jul 2023, 12:52 pm » wrote: ↑ That's how it is!!! I've seen them. They are elusive. One night on my way home, I caught a family of them down by the mail boxes, chased one of them up the private drive trying to run him over with my Jeep. I got a night vision scope mounted on an AR-15 that I'm just itch'n to use.sootedupCyndi » 07 Jul 2023, 12:56 pm » wrote: ↑ I don't believe you. Because we have those- and they are very elusive. Because I have a couple of small dogs and they can get a bit far ought from the house. My neighbor had one of his little dogs ripped apart by coyotes right in front of him (somewhere else, not here) and he hates them as much as I do. They will tear rabbits apart and will attack small dogs when they can.And why would you want to hunt them down? They never hurt anyone i know here?
But see? Was it hurting you? Leave it be- you would probably never see that animal again. unless something looks rabid- leave them alone.Skans » 07 Jul 2023, 1:00 pm » wrote: ↑ I've seen them. I do not believe that! Where are ours. My dogs are more threatened by porcupines.Skans » 07 Jul 2023, 1:00 pm » wrote: ↑ I've seen them. They are elusive. Folks around here have small to medium sized dogs - some old and ripe for coyotes to grab hold of. People with horses and/or cattle usually have a donkey to protect their livestock.
You don't have to believe it. It's a fact, Coyotes eat little doggies. And, rabbits. And, they spread rabies.sootedupCyndi » 07 Jul 2023, 1:09 pm » wrote: ↑ I do not believe that! Where are ours. My dogs are more threatened by porcupines.

Wolves will kill them outright.
I saw a thing on coyote hunting out west where it's hard to get the drop on them.
They train dogs to walk out until a coyote starts following it to kill it. The dog is trained to lead the coyote back to the hunter until it's within shooting distance.
There's an animal called a coywolf.sootedupCyndi » 07 Jul 2023, 2:01 pm » wrote: ↑ We have a mix of things that look like skinny mange german sherpards and a wolf. About a hundred pounds ? i have never seen them come even close to my house? the howling is scary!

It's what happens when wolves and coyotes interbreed.
Maybe those are what you're seeing.
