Wasn't needed with Trump either.  His lawyers were meeting with, and negotiating with the Archives lawyers regarding which documents were private and which needed to be given to the archive. 

But the FBI needed the declassified documents back that proved they spied on Trump.

1.  No one is suppose to have Classified documents at their residence.
2.  If you have some, you need to turn them over immediately.
3.  You better have a pretty good excuse how Classified documents are in your possession.

I'm real interested in what Biden has to say.
(I already know what Trump has said:  'They were planted by the FBI' ... 'They were mine' ... 'I didn't know they were there' ... 'I already gave back all the documents')

WHAT MATTERS MOST IS: 
1.THEY WERE STOLEN DOCUMENTS FROM THE WHITE HOUSE IN 2017 
2.  A VICE PRESIDENT DOES NOT HAVE ANY AUTHORITY TO REMOVE CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS OR     ANYTHING FOR THAT MATTER THAT HE DIDN'T ARRIVE WITH AT THE WHITE HOUSE.
3. THE ARCHIVES DON'T KEEP TABS ON DOCUMENTS UNLESS THEY'RE ALERTED OF THEM.
4. EVIDENTLY BIDEN WAS HIDING THEM OR THE ARCHIVES WOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED WHEN HE TOOK THEM.
5. THE DOCUMENTS WERE NOT PROTECTED BY THE SECRET SERVICE OR PRIVATE SECURITY.
   AS A COMPARISON TRUMPS DOCUMENTS WERE PROTECTED BY BOTH THE SECRET SERVICE AND     PRIVATE SECURITY

One held documents he had the Constitutional Authority to declassify (AND possess), which he had done, stored them in a secured location with Secret Service agents everywhere.Whereas the other stole them, placed them in various unsecured locations and lied about knowing about them..

See the difference!
