I generally value your opinion, ROG62.  If I'm wrong about this then let me know. I think a lot of molestation claims from 1990 to the present are based on false memories.  I have witnessed this.  A support group, or group therapist or even family members get vulnerable people to suddenly "remember" what happened to them when they were 4.  They claim the memories were suppressed and that's why the adult never mentioned the molestation to anyone, until the memories were retrieved.

I believe you are correct in the "false memory" thing, but I ALSO believe that most of them are from a "therapist" using suggestive planting of those "memories" in various sessions that "retrieve" them. That is a very powerful "weapon" and one that gets abused and more abused as time goes on. ESPECIALLY if hypnosis is used to "retrieve" them.

while no one will ever know the numbers, my MIL was sexually abused around the age of seven (early 1940's) by her step father and oldest stepbrother...it became known to the family in her mid fifties...she told her mother about it in real time and she was told "never mention this again as you'll ruin this family!"

comforting I'm sure...while she raised 4 children that turned out remarkably well, she was quite a dysfunctional woman...they say abused children stop maturing at the age of abuse...I have a tendency to believe that with her...

part of the issue is while they suppress the memories, at some point they become so dysfunctional, it just comes to the top of the brain heap and the floodgates open...

 I'm sure there are those that fake stuff making people suspicious (we certainly were) and who knows, she could have made it up...but being her favorite even over her own boys, I'll side with her...

I have personally seen this on more than one occasion.  Each time it involved memories of molestation or satanic ritual abuse, of course when the alleged victim was 3 or 4 years old.

While I could see a man molesting a boy or girl who has entered puberty, I don't think even most pedophiles have much interest in 3 and 4 year olds. First, parents don't typically molest their own kids. Second, parents don't typically leave their 3 and 4 year old kids in the custody of other men for extended periods of time (Extremely rare for a woman to molest children or teens).  Third, there's not much there to molest.  Fourth, and this is a big one, all of these early childhood molestation's seem to have happened in epidemic numbers post 1970, which means they were being reported around 1990 and later.  This coincides with a huge boom in psychological therapy and group therapy movements originating out of California. 

So, yeah, if you're F-ed up, can't get your life together, addicted to durgs or can't maintain a relationship, let's chalk it up to suppressed memories of child molestation.

This is more believable.  The person in question is 7.  Were there suppressed  memories?  Most people actually remember a lot from when they were 7 years of age. And, it was reported in real time to the biological mother, so the memories do not seem suppressed.

Most people don't inquire about HOW this is coming out just now when someone, a woman, brings up the claim that she was molested.  What changed?  Why just now?  "Well, I didn't realize that all of these suppressed memories of what Mr. XYZ did to me was negatively affecting me, so with therapy I remembered all these awful things that happened to me...."

These false memories ruin lives. I've seen it second-hand (i.e. watched it play out in someone else's lives).  I've seen where the claims were completely disproved too, and where a bitterly vindictive X-wife was behind the entire thing.

I don't have anything against her. Just seems like she would marry anything that moves.  
 

There is no way of knowing right now. Even an autopsy may not tell you the full story. To honestly prove that the vaccine was the sole reason would take exhaustive testing that would take quite some time.

I agree, for every legitimate claim, there's an illegitimate claim...problem being, nowadays the accused is crucified before seeing the courtroom...
