This morning, my roomie threatened to kill people if he became homeless, and has a loaded .357 Magnum at the ready, and is noted for rages and a hot temper. He has been cut off from disability and cannot pay rent! YIKES! I should report him!![]()

There is no solution. In a more primitive society, these people would be left to die or exterminated. In a far more advanced society than what we have today, they might be able to be treated or even cured. We're sort of stuck in between systems of being able to effectively deal with such people.jerrab » 24 Jan 2023, 2:05 pm » wrote: ↑ it would be a problem. I have not given it much thought, though.
Well the gubmint is always pushing people over the edge? Probably cut off an old person.. And they see the unfairness of what the scum immigrants are getting.. Cant blame them in a way.RedheadedStranger » 24 Jan 2023, 2:15 pm » wrote: ↑ I would recommend getting the pistol away from him asap!

They are always roomates!
Weight gain is one reason, but not quite the determining factor for schizophrenics. They go off the meds for two reasons, from what I understand: 1) because the meds they take at the dosages that work make them feel like ****; and 2) because the hallucinations go away, so they think they can do without the meds.jerrab » 24 Jan 2023, 2:37 pm » wrote: ↑ there may be some hope for weight gain.
-------------------------------------------------------------ILLUSTRATIVE CASEIs there anything you can do for this patient? A 25-year-old man with newly diagnosed schizophrenia and a baseline weight of 175 pounds comes to see you because he has gained 18 pounds in the first 6 months after starting olanzapine.Concerned because his mother has diabetes, he asks if you can help him lose weight safely. You make your usual recommendation that he increase his daily physical activity (including buying a pedometer, setting a daily step goal, and keeping a log)2 and decrease his total caloric intake, but you know the chances of success are not great. What about a weight loss medication? Might that improve the odds?Metformin might improve the odds. This study gives us an additional tool for treating antipsychotic-induced weight gain. This is useful information, because most second-generation (or atypical) antipsychotic medications cause weight gain. Weight gain can lead to decreased adherence to treatment and, therefore, increased risk of psychotic relapse in addition to the increased risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease associated with weight gain.
The last non-related roommate I had was in college. He and I got along. Also, his girlfriend and my girlfriend were also roommates, so that worked out even better......No, we didn't swap. I would have, but the girls weren't into it.nuckinfutz » 24 Jan 2023, 2:40 pm » wrote: ↑ They are always roomates!
