I have known several.  They are sad, mentally-tortured, miserable people.  They don't want to be that way - they just are.  They live their lives mostly in terror of things that do not exist, but which are exceedingly real to them when they are not on their meds.  For whatever reason, they don't like how their meds make them feel, so they almost always stop taking them.  The more they go off their meds, the less effective any meds will be.  The nightmarish delusions become more and more entrenched in their minds and meds simply stop helping subdue this.  This is why there is simply no helping most adult schizophrenics.

You and I both.  There are more and more insane people, more and more drug addicts.  How much can a Nation endure?  How many F-ed up, non-productive, idiots can one country support?  How long will it be before "government" figures out the most efficient way to get rid of its problems is to dope them up and warehouse them permanently?

What bothers me are the indifferences from the doctors about this issue. Obviously, these people are having a difficult time accepting who they are. The docs are taking advantage of that for some bucks. It's unethical. A true empathetic and compassionate doctor would help them accept who they are, so they could live a happy and productive life.

Not just the Docs, but the messed up people that think it would be "freaky-cool" and a big "F-U" to the rest of us to have doctor-created abominations running around on TV and in parades.

If the left would even use a ounce of their brain, they would see this as child abuse...this includes CPS departments around the country.

I get it, people don't like the effects of serious drugs used to treat mental illness.  The problem is, that with schizophrenics, every time they go off their meds, they become less and less effective at stopping the terrifying delusions. Once they become adults, they are basically screwed.  They are scared, sometimes dangerous, disturbing to be around and difficult if not impossible to get under control with medication.

Here's the thing.  Schizophrenics don't do well in regular group homes - they run off.  They can't be around young children and can't be left on their own.  Even if there's enough money to take care of their needs, the surrounding "community" will force them out.  Condominiums are out of the question, as are apartments.  Living in a house by themselves isn't much better. They will be forced out. 

No neurologist, psychologist, psychiatrist, or social worker can help these people.  There really is no help for these people beyond the first few years.  What would you do if you had a kid who is schizophrenic?

TRUE! Like the Schizoid who threatened to kill my best bud and his family with an AR-15. He hears voices in his head as a little girl who tells him what to do. They held him on a 3 day hold(51-50) but he got out and it cost him his job as a welder, he lost his trailer, and what few friends he had. His uncle took him in and employs him at something.
This morning, my roomie threatened to kill people if he became homeless, and has a loaded .357 Magnum at the ready, and is noted for rages and a hot temper. He has been cut off from disability and cannot pay rent! YIKES! I should report him!

if it all possible let your roommate stay. he might qualify for food stamps, I can't guarantee it though.

contact mental services in your area and ask their opinions. you would be considered a family member and you can talk to someone without him being around.
