Like I said... we are a representative democracy... and the voting citizens of that representative democracy voted to form a constitutional republic.... that is run by a legislature that is democratically elected on a regular basis. Our economy is capitalist that is minimally regulated by the government. Those voting citizens of our representative democracy also decided that some service aspects of our capitalist economy - fire prevention and control, crime prevention and control, public transit, health care, utility distribution, road maintenance, to name but a few - are better managed by the government - than by rugged individuals - at the local, state and national levels. Government administration of NONE of those aspects of our extremely complex capitalist economy turns that economy "socialist". Government does not own the means of production of our economy. The NYSE sells ownership shares of our economy to private citizens every single work day. Government does NOT own the means of production... everyone with a portfolio or an IRA or a retirement plan does.... we all own a piece of the American dream...the capitalist American dream.

A TAXPAYER FUNDED Fire Department isn't CONTROLLING ANYONE'S ACCESS TO ANYTHING but have been CREATED by the simple FACT that people were willing to turn over that part of the own LIBERTY TO OBTAIN- BY THEIR CONSENT!!! You ARE required to pay for the fire department, however. You and every other citizen of the town, whether you chose to call them when your house is on fire or not. That is not socialism... it's how a democracy decides to handle issues that impact its citizenry. The government neither owns nor controls the health care system and NOBODY is required to enroll in anything if they don't want to. So...we have one independent senator who's proposed a bill that has zero chance of even coming to a vote in the Senate let alone pass in the house and you acting like it's a **** fait accompli ???? Did you miss Civics class????

If America is pure socialism which, by definition means that the government owns the means of production...what is it that the NYSE is selling every day if it isn't shares of ownership in the means of production of the American economy? Pure socialism? Hell... the ONLY portion of the healthcare system that is owned by the government is the VA.
