Illinois man who allegedly stole funeral home van with corpse inside arrested after 2 months on the lam.       

Deon Howard, 23, was taken into custody on Sunday in Green Bay, Wisconsin, about 200 miles north of the scene of the crime. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office said he was arrested after getting into an argument with an officer during a traffic stop, where the police identified him as the wanted suspect.

Howard is accused of stealing a van from the Collins & Stone Funeral Home, in Rockford, on Jan. 21, which was carrying the body of 47-year-old Curtis Brown, a father of 12. Police found the van abandoned the following day, and the next day, they spotted Brown’s body tossed naked into an alleyway in South Chicago, about 100 miles from the funeral home.

Howard was charged with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and abuse of a corpse, and also faces obstruction and weapons-related charges in Wisconsin. Officials did not say when he would be extradited back to Illinois.

Another "Now you heard it all"

A McDonald’s customer was violently robbed at knife point in the restroom and the suspect turned out to be one of the fast-food restaurant’s employees, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office in West Virginia. The victim suffered serious injuries, including cuts to the face and a stab wound, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

“The victim, a 56-year-old male, was a customer inside McDonald’s when he went into the restroom,” the sheriff’s office said. “He was followed by (the suspect), who is an employee of the Elkview McDonalds. Once inside the restroom, (the suspect) robbed the ... victim of his wallet, cut him multiple times in the face with the knife and stabbed him in the neck.” The suspect then walked out the restaurant, “leaving the victim behind” to be discovered by customers, officials said. Investigators say the 31-year-old suspect was located him about a quarter of a mile away.
