At least 360 Georgia prison guards have been arrested for contraband since 2018, newspaper finds

Corrections Commissioner Tyrone Oliver joked that contraband is the “driving force” for violence inside Georgia prisons, as well as violence that spills into the outside world.

And here Old Mack thought the reason for violence in the prison system was because a bunch of hardcore inmates were coopted up.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office found that the teen’s death was caused by blunt force head injuries and the death was ruled a homicide.  The Stafford brothers initially faced murder charges, however, a grand jury made up of all pocs' in Summit County issued new, lesser charges.

Deshawn Stafford Jr., 21, and his brother Tyler Stafford, 20, were both found not guilty of involuntary manslaughter in Liming’s death.  Deshawn was found guilty of aggravated assault and assault and a mistrial was declared on a count 1 charge of involuntary manslaughter. Tyler was found guilty of assault and not guilty of involuntary manslaughter.  A third male, Donovon Jones, 22, was arrested last year for his involvement in the death. He had previously pleaded no contest to two counts of misdemeanor assault and was given a suspended sentence of 180 days, according to WKWC.

Cracker Barrel is famous for its wholesome country entrees and sides, and the chain's hash brown preparations are particularly beloved among customers. As a result, many wonder whether this popular side is served up fresh or frozen. A Reddit thread shed light on this common question when a line cook divulged many trade secrets related to the restaurant. Upon being asked whether they had any "magical hashbrown casserole secrets" up their sleeve, the Cracker Barrel employee replied, "Our recipe is pretty simple. It's like onions, cheese, margarine, cream soup base, salt, pepper, and frozen hash browns." Based on this response, it appears the chain favors frozen hash browns over fresh.

According to the Cracker Barrel website, certain items are indeed made fresh. This includes mashed potatoes and gravy made "from scratch all day long," as well as hand-breaded chicken. The chain also "hand rolls" its biscuits to ensure optimum freshness, much to the delight of its carb-loving customers. As for the hash browns, they're conspicuously absent from the chain's list of homemade items.

San Francisco on track to crush overdose death record as addicts die in streets

There were 563 overdose fatalities in the Golden City between Jan. 1 and Aug. 31, according to a recent report from the San Francisco chief medical examiner. Out of the 563 overdose deaths in San Francisco this year, 456 involved fentanyl, according to the data also from the medical examiner's office.  In 2017, meanwhile, just 36 of the 222 overdose deaths involved fentanyl, according to the San Francisco Department of Public Health.

NEW YORK -- There has been another arrest in the fentanyl-related death of a baby at a Bronx day care.

A fourth person was in custody Tuesday after being on the run for a week and a half. CBS New York has learned suspect Felix Herrera-Garcia was arrested in Mexico while on a bus to the city of Culiacan, which is a hub for the most powerful drug cartel in the world. The Spic was last seen carrying bags out the back alley of Divino Nino Day Care on Sept. 15, after the babies inside were exposed to fentanyl.

"He thought he was gonna get away and he didn't, amen," neighbor Pamela Spice said. "Thank God, thank God," Darlene Sanders added.

Investigators allege Herrera-Garcia's wife, Grei Mendez, called him before calling 911 as the babies showed signs of an overdose. One-year-old Nicholas Dominici died and three other babies were hospitalized. Police have already arrested Mendez, Herrera-Garcia's cousin, Carlisto Acevedo Brito, and an alleged associate, Renny Paredes. Federal authorities claim the four were operating a drug ring out of the day care and have found large quantities of narcotics hidden under the floor boards.

When reached for a comment Team Bidden had nothing to say other than these folks are innocent until proven guilty.

"It would be indicative of a larger-scale steady distribution network that built up customers and clients and has resources and connections to Mexico," said Ray Donovan, retired chief of operations for the Drug Enforcement Administration. Donovan said Herrera-Garcia attempting to go to Culiacan was significant, because it's the main operational center for the Sinaloa cartel.

"That cartel is the largest producer, manufacturer and trafficker of fentanyl to the U.S.," Donovan said, adding, "It tells me he was going there for protection. So it made sense for him to take a bus to lay under the radar and go directly into Culiacan to lay low for a period of time."
Sources said U.S. and Mexican authorities worked together on the arrest and the extradition process will now begin.

Kids’ Football Coach Charged with Knocking Out Teen Player on Opposing Team

...The Murrieta Police Department says they responded to a report of a fight at a youth tackle football game on Saturday afternoon. The recreation league game was being held at Vista Murrieta High School when a fight broke out between the two teams' players, coaches, and parents.

Police say 50-year-old coach Eibylardo Funes punched a 14-year-old player from the opposing team. The boy, identified by his mother as Harlem Edwards, sustained an injury to his eye and exhibited symptoms of a concussion, according to a police release.

In an Instagram post, Neenah Kaowili said her son was unconscious for two minutes after he was hit in the face and suffered a seizure. She says her son is suffering from emotional trauma and the coach needs to be held accountable for the attack. "He intentionally hit my child in front of me,” Kaowili told KNBC-TV.

Officers arrested Funes on child abuse with possible great bodily injury and battery charges.

Ex-police chief who faked death after raiding evidence and stealing guns, drugs and cash learns his fate

A former North Carolina police chief who stole drugs, guns and cash from evidence before being arrested and then faking his death after a wild crime spree was sentenced this week to serve 11 to 22 years in prison after pleading guilty to 14 felonies and a single misdemeanor.

William Spivey, once the head of the Chadbourn Police Department, was stripped of his badge as well this week. He was first charged in 2021 after an investigation into missing evidence at the Chadbourn Police Department was launched by the Clark County District Attorney’s Office.

When district attorneys first started asking questions in February 2021 about an array of Chadbourn narcotics cases that were missing evidence, prosecutors said Spivey wouldn’t cooperate. Not only did he decline to let them review what little evidence he was able to come up with, he reportedly refused to show officials anything else that they asked for.

The Decatur Police Department said Perkins “turned the gun toward one of the officers,” and they shot him. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said Perkins had a handgun with a light on it.

Lee Merritt, an ambulance chaser attorney representing the Perkins family, said video from neighbors' home security systems indicates that officers accompanied the tow truck driver onto the property but did not announce themselves and opened fire within a second of telling Perkins to get on the ground.

Man riding farm vehicle arrested for second DUI 17 minutes after release from first DUI arrest

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – A man operating a farm vehicle in Pennsylvania was arrested and accused of driving under the influence just 17 minutes after he was released from custody for the very same thing, Pennsylvania State Police say.

The driver, identified a 49-year-old man from Lancaster, was first taken into custody on the evening of Sept. 16, after Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) say he tried to flee the scene of a crash in a 1974 International Harvester 4000 series.

According to the crash report, the International Harvester and a 2011 Toyota RAV4 were at a stop sign when the farm vehicle backed into the SUV and tried to leave the area. The driver of the RAV4 followed behind, honking to try and get the tractor operator’s attention, police said in a news release.

The driver of the tractor later admitted to police that he had been drinking before getting behind the wheel, PSP said. The suspect was arrested, processed and released, police said. But he didn’t give the officers much time to miss him. “Approximately 17 minutes after being released from custody, the actor was found to be operating a tractor yet again on the roadway and was placed into custody for a 2nd DUI,” police wrote.
