Man Leaps to His Death from New York City Hotel Penthouse in Suspected Suicide

The 47-year-old man leaped from the 25th floor of the Gotham Hotel in Manhattan's Diamond District around 6:30 p.m. Friday, the New York Post reported. The police said he landed on the second floor in the back of the building and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The hotel, where the penthouse suite goes for more than $1,000 a night and includes a private terrace, has been the site of other fatal plunges. In May 2018, Stephanie Adams, a former Playboy Playmate, jumped from the penthouse suit with her 7-year-old son, killing them both. Their bodies were discovered on a second-floor landing in the rear of the hotel. She had been in a custody battle with her ex-husband.  The body of a 34-year-old man was also found on the second-floor landing in September 2021, two days after he jumped from the 25th floor penthouse.

If a guy is dead and the coppers have his remains and no other crime was committed other than him carrying contraband...how can he be a suspect ? I mean if they clear him of all charges...will they have to let him go ? Suspect is not the right word.

The homeowner discovered a squatter after they received a notification from their home’s thermostat that the temperature was changed, the sheriff’s office said. That notification made the homeowner suspicious. After visiting the property they allegedly discovered Pierre driving their car and parking it in the garage. The homeowner called 911 and blocked Pierre from leaving, the sheriff’s office said. Pierre faces charges of burglary, grand theft of a motor vehicle and grand theft over $750. He remains in custody Tuesday, according to jail records. It is unclear if he has an attorney.
