Shot guns are easier to hit the intruder than a semi auto rifle at close range.

While this is true, it also is more likely to hit people and objects you don't intend on hitting.  A couple of rounds from an AR, if you don't hit your target, isn't going to mess up your house.  Several rounds from a 12 gauge will.

Regardless, it's not up to old-man, senile Joe Biden to tell Men or Women what kind of gun they should use to protect themselves.  His advice is ridiculously stupid.  Did you catch that he was suggesting that a woman use a DOUBLE BARREL shotgun?  I could hand a woman my O/U Beretta 12 Gauge and a semi-auto 12 gauge and it would be MUCH easier for a woman to figure out how to use the semi-auto.

Semi-auto  -- pull the bolt back, let it go and then just pull the trigger.  Or, if you keep a round in the chamber ready to go, flip the safety off and just pull the trigger.

Double-Barrel shotgun:

• find the lever to release the barrel assembly from the receiver.  Figure out what to do with that lever.
• Load 2 shells in, one in each barrel - oh, if 2 spent shells pop out at you and you don't know what this is, many novices will think part of the gun sprung off.
• close the barrels (not easy to do if you've never done this before)

And, what's next?  @Justthetruth  - I want you to tell me what the woman must now do to shoot it.

Last I checked a couple of rounds from an AR will go through serveral walls if it doesn't hit a stud depending upon the load in shotguns the bb's aren't likely to go through a wall with two sides of drywall.
So My instincts from my limited knowledge of mass times motion you are inaccurate to more than a few degrees or percentage points of probability.

Not with hollow points. Think about it.  Every wall has 2 sheets of drywall.  Typically a hollow-point won't have much penetrating power after going through 4 sheets of drywall. That's 2 interior walls, if it doesn't hit a stud.

But, if you are shooting solids, then yes, it could penetrate more than that.

And, while 00 or 000 buckshot will not penetrate as far as a solid rifled projectile, the spread could will do more damage to your house.
