Dems did under Carter and beyond.

That's the point, but of course a dishonest psychotic like you will bleat about anything and everything else.
Was it Carter, or Johnson, that got rid of glass-stegall?

I said it was Reagan and his successors that deregulated the financial industry, but you straightened me out that it was pre-Carter democrats.

I assume you linked that on a different day, in a different thread, on a diferent forum.

I trust you, Glory Hole.

WTF are you babbling about? Glass Steagall was repealed under Clinton.

And it made banks stronger by allowing them to diversify out of simply mortgages the very loans that caused the meltdown.

I believe the little monkey has a simpleton's grasp of what caused the meltdown. It was the repackaging of mortgages into speculative debt instruments specifically outlawed by Glass Stegall, not the mortgages themselves, which caused the melt down, little monkey.

If the mortgages were not bad, the "speculative debt instruments" wouldn't have been bad.
The CRA was responsible for the bad mortgages, not Glass Stegall.

Oh, so the mortgages themselves would have been paid if they weren't re-packaged? No, that's stunningly stupid.

The Financial Freeze happened because mortgages were given that were not going to be paid. The form doesn't matter that much.

The problem was non-payment, not re-packaging.

But how typically stupid that you put your moonbat judgment over that of every business publication I've seen, the NYTimes and even Obama and Dems.

Yes, yes, and if frogs had wings their asses would not be so muscled.

Winglessness is what muscles are made of.

It takes real talent to utterly bungle something so clear as toxic mortgages.

The problem wasn't the unpaid debt, insists the moonbat.

Most historians lament the repeal of the Glass Steagall banking act. I will trust them over an internet professor like Richclem who openly claimed he doesn't have any regard for science and academic standards.
