It's a two way nothingburger. Equally dumb is the screaming by Trumpers that it could never have happened during his four immaculate years. Also dumb is Republican outrage at the defense department for not shooting it down until it could be done without killing people on the ground, and Chinese outrage that we shot it down at all when if the situation were reversed we would expect them, or anyone whose air space we violated, to shoot ours down.

Media is going crazy reporting Chinese Balloons flew over the USA when Trump was President. No, simply not true.

Here is where the **** starts, them ANONYMOUS SOURCES....

An anonymous U.S. Defense Department official said over the weekend that spy balloons transited over U.S. territory under the Trump administration. But Trump, in a Fox News interview on Sunday, pushed back.

Them anonymous sources  Image

Well this is what other people are saying.
  1. Mark Esper, who served under Trump as secretary of defense, refuted claims about balloons flying over the United States under the previous administration.“I don’t ever recall somebody coming into my office or reading anything that the Chinese had a surveillance balloon above the United States,” he told CNN. “I would remember that for sure.”
  2. John Bolton, a former U.S. national security adviser under Trump, said that he never heard of any spy balloons entering U.S. airspace or hovering over U.S. territory while Trump was in office. Bolton, also a Bush administration official when he was in office, also said that he never heard of anything like this happening before he joined the Trump administration in 2018.
  3. Trump, “This never happened. It would have never happened,” Trump told the outlet, adding that the Chinese regime “respected us greatly” under his leadership. “It never happened with us under the Trump administration and if it did, we would have shot it down immediately,” added Trump.
    “It’s disinformation.”
Before the balloon was shot down, Trump on his social media platform Truth Social had called for the U.S. military to shoot down the balloon last week after it was spotted near Billings, Montana.

“Now they are putting out that a Balloon was put up by China during the Trump Administration, in order to take the ‘heat’ off” the Biden administration, Trump wrote Sunday.

“China had too much respect for ‘TRUMP’ for this to have happened, and it NEVER did.”

Now they’re saying it did happen WTF?   They didn’t discover it happened until three years later?   Or they didn’t inform the chain of command at the time?    Hhhhhhhmmmmmmmm

I'm not sure why he is stuck on that since you and I both agree that they are indeed different rifles.

I guess he just wants confirmation that he was wrong or something. Who knows.
Are these your words?
Who ran and from what?

You?

That's hilarious to say the least.

The point I made was that anything that came after Stoner's design is a variant of that design, and they are.

You started our conversation saying that the M-16 was the design, and the semi auto civilian model was a "modified" M-16, which is completely wrong.

Both rifles in question are variants of Stoner's original design, and both variants were created for a specific purpose. One for for the civilian market, and the other for the military. Same design, different rifles.

I have a Bushy XM-15 (semi auto) in my safe that is a variant of Stoner's original design as well.

Image

Does that make sense now?

Please tell me it does, because this got old hours ago.
I get the sense that you are saying that the semi auto Colt AR-15 is a VARIANT, as opposed to a DESIGN.

I told you that this is EXACTLY what I, and every citation, have argued....it is the very opposite of @Huey  's "stand".

You maintained that you and your Li'l Ammosexual pard are in agreement.

Since you can't read, I invited you to ask Shorty directly to confirm that you are not.

Your obstinate refusal to do so hints at the possibility that you've suspected as much.

Ask him now, and put him out of everyone's misery..
