There was actually a lot of support by Americans for the American Revolution. They really were not a minority. That is true, never a true majority. One third was for forming a new nation separate from England. Another third were Loyalists. And the other third were fairly neutral and didn't want to get involved.

So, I did a little checking and neither England nor Revolutionaries had a majority on their side.
