The two weapons in question are the M 16 and the Colt Sporter.  One designed for the battlefield and one designed for civilian use.

Nope.  You have quoted the same source from the same article.  You know what weapon it refers to. State you case.  The M 16 and the Sporter are  two very different weapons with two very different purposes.
