THe answer is already on the thread, Askholio.  Now state you case.  I know the difference in the weapons and the design differences.  The only thing that is the same is basically the stock, hand grip, carry handle, flash suppressor and hand guards. If you don't know which weapon is which you already lost.

A  brief synopsis

The M 16 was the c601 which was the automatic Armalite 15 rifle was a rifle specifically designed for the battlefield and fires full automatic when designed.

The Sporter/Commanche is an independent design that was specifically designed for civilians and law enforcement.  The only real similarities are external and visual only with the exception of the flash suppressor.  Internally it was designed for semi automatic AND designed as to not have the ability to just drop in M 16 parts and make it full automatic.

As citations consistently show the M 16 was designed for combat.  Citations show the Sporter was designed for civilians, even the one's you use.  This is why you never want to discuss the design differences in the lowers, even if you did understand them.
