I do have guns in my home.   And I have no problem with government regulation of gun owners like me.  And I assume that, after spending a quarter of a century IN a naval uniform, I would be considered an emeritus member of the Maine naval militia should it ever be constituted.

Actually, states that its a well regulated militia.  In modern terms, That means you're in the armed services defending the country.

I don't support taking guns away from lawful owners.  But I also don't believe that Guns are Sacred Cows.   We have a gun violence problem in America and it's heavily politized.   We're taking tiny steps to stop it when we need a full on cooperation.

All over the country, Red Flag laws have popped up.  Police forces are trained to rush the shooter instead of waiting outside like the Uvalde Cops did.
