Healthcare, addiction, untreated mental illness, hopelessness, endless wars, politicization of a biological weapon and use of the resulting fears to condition acceptance of authoritarianism.

The last is a fantasy. The rest of it we agree on. Where is your authoritarianism now? Seems like your fears would fizzle out with the reality.

The notion the rich will ever pay "their 'fair' share" presupposes there is some 'fair' in March. The fair is in October.

You contravene your own statement. Obviously Reich is advocating raising taxes on himself.
If we raise taxes on the rich maybe we could retire some of this outlandish debt.
Maybe we could subsidize higher education for our students.
None of us think higher taxes on the rich are going to put money directly in our pockets that is specious.
Maybe we could expand Medicaid further and increase the subsidies under the affordable Care act.
Maybe we could reestablish some sort of mental health system.
There are lots of things that could be done with the money.

Anyone believing that 50% of the country shouldn't pay any tax because they're "poor" should spend an hour in a supermarket at the beginning of the month when the EBT/Food Stamps are received.  I guarantee you will watch "poor" shoppers with their carts overflowing with choice cuts of meat, lobster, shrimp, and the most expensive items found in a supermarket, all while carrying $800 smart phones, wearing $200 sneakers, designer jeans, leather coats and dripping with jewelry.  Watch as they load their groceries into late model cars that are probably newer than your own.  You'll see them smoking cigarettes at $10 a pack, and spending their cash on booze and beer, and in line ahead of you at the marijuana dispensary.

Want reform?  The first thing that should be done is to require drug testing monthly for anyone applying for any welfare benefits, unless you think hard working Americans who are required to be drug tested regularly at their job should have to do so while THEIR tax dollars go to fund the drug habits of those paying no taxes!  Cracking down on the waste of so many welfare programs by the politicians should be done before EVER asking for another dime in taxes from working stiffs!

Maybe the answer is for irresponsible, childish politicians to Spend Less instead of Taxing the citizens & businesses more...
As for Robert Reich,  or any other rich Liberals who advocate for paying an increase -- they don't have to wait for the IRS and our Tax Laws to require them to do so... They are allowed to give generously to the Federal Conscious Fund.... But don't hold your breath..

Tax the rich...then watch donations to charitable organizations go dry.
They'd rather give their tax dollars to tax write-offs instead of a corrupt government.

You try to label me a communist because that makes it easy for you to disregard what I have to say which is that your position is completely immoral and without merit.
There are real problems faced by the poor and the middle class and you do not address them at all.
Biden is actually doing a good job of trying to.
Go be a moral bankrupt somewhere else
Gee, that's funny seeing how "a strong social safety net" is DEMANDED by SOCIALIST AND COMMUNISTS right in the "Party platforms".

And Trump's policies, which were PRO GROWTH, dramatically REDUCED the poverty numbers AND had more minorities out of poverty than in DECADES!! Yet, you hated him!!

Your Goebbels propaganda is easily seen through.

Look at you protect citizens over ancestries. Watch you defend charcter role playing over being honest about what one is as reproductively here one at a time.

Thank you for your performance ignoring now is eternity. Where would this species be if not for deniers such as yourself.

Certainly not at the brink of the final conflict between artistic impression of tomorrow and realities of yesterday governing what to believe today when all it ever was, was genetics eternally separating last 5 generation gaps of this ever changing population of homo sapien ancestries.

Politics and religions kept everyone on one track mantras since civilization began 100,000 years after species appeared in this atmosphere and last 7,000 destroying itself on which we inherits all humanity has done making tomorrows better than just adapting to the moment here.

What would you suggest we do with people who are disabled and can't work?

Homeless and starving is self inflicted choices of waiting to be resuced from themselves.

Those enabling people to wait for rescue from themselves have a common goal, to pretend they are more than what life sustains in plain sight and have a deep rooted desire to govern eternal separation artificially granting them exemption from adapting to space on their own talents which are to deceive self, so well others pay them to learn ow to ignore self evident life.

All that is done one way, power of suggesting nobody has to understand why they exist in the first place and as long as last 5 generation never knew, nobody can prove how living works in real time factually.

Unless they instinctively figure out the natural algorithm of reproduction activity present.

It's becoming more clear that the skepticism was warranted. That masks and lockdowns were largely ineffective security theater. Expensive security theater. A measured response targeting those at risk from serious consequences from a respiratory virus should have been the focus. The chinese lab release should have been investigated while the evidence fresh. Instead we politicized a virus on both sides.

I have a real problem with the fact that fauci lied about the masks early on when he said that they weren't effective when he actually thought they were.
That said I think the public health authorities were largely in good faith and tried to do the best they could to contain the pandemic. I think the assertion that it was an attempt to create an authoritarian government is absurd.
