matthew 17

9 As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”10 The disciples asked him, “Why then do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”11 Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things. 12 But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.” 13 Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist.

Hey, hey, show some respect. This is a book of the BIBLE you're talking about.

Idunno what "malachi" means, but it doesn't sound like an appropriate adjective for holy writ.

Cussing in ANY language in reference to scripture is disrespectful.

I agree.. It extends to all scriptures.

Respecting anothers beliefs is a good thing. Unless it leads to harm of others.

malachi is the last book in the old testament.

malachi 44 “Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel.5 “See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. 6 He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.”

there are a lot of differences between the old testament and the new testament.

matthew 5Eye for Eye38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’[h] 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

if they choose to ignore Jesus and what he said, yes they got the new testament wrong. but it is more than ignoring Jesus, they say he did not mean what he said.

like i said, you are just being confused by a literary device. this was a common sort of figure of speech in biblical language, and i think you simply must not be accustomed to it.

Jesus also made it clear that John the baptist was not an angel but no more than a mortal man. He included that so people could not say that only elijah could come back.

matthew 11 ----

11 Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence,[d] and violent people have been raiding it. 13 For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. 14 And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. 15 Whoever has ears, let them hear.
