https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/15/politics ... .htmlTrump, now waging his third White House bid, told attendees at the Conservative Political Action Conference earlier this month that it’s time to “change our thinking” on early and mail-in voting. And in speeches and fundraising emails, he’s touting his campaign’s plans to encourage “ballot harvesting,” the practice of allowing third parties to collect and turn in other voters’ ballots. His party, he said, has “no choice” but to beat “Democrats at their own game.”That’s a stark reversal for a politician who last November issued an all-caps declaration on his Truth Social account alleging, in part, “YOU CAN NEVER HAVE FAIR & FREE ELECTIONS WITH MAIL-IN BALLOTS – NEVER, NEVER, NEVER.”

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

You sound upset that the GOP is utilizing your parties tactics.

upset?  NOT IN THE LEAST.  I just think it's hilarious that everyone on here  - and at the dot org site for years - has been claiming that the only way to fix our elections is to ban mail in balloting entirely.  Now.... even the clown himself (who always voted by mail himself) is getting on the bandwagon and endorsing ballot harvesting.  I only wonder if the die hard MAGA men on here will vehemently denounce the clown for this flip flop.  Ya think???

Cool story.

Republicans are too lazy to ever figure out how to GOTV the way the democrats can.

To be fair there is a difference between mail in voting and absentee voting.  Until recently you had to have a good, valid reason to request an absentee ballot.  With mail in voting all the voter has to do is request one and in some areas they are mailed out unrequested.

that is not entirely correct.  In some areas the ballot request forms are mailed out to voters who may not have requested them.  I myself received two... one from the town and one from the county democrats.  I filled one out and mailed it in.  And got my ONE ballot back in return mail once my voter registration was validated by my town clerk.  And when the clerk mailed it back to me, she annotated my voter record to show that I had been sent a ballot.  When my ballot was mailed back in and opened up, and my signature verified,  the clerk drew a line through my name to indicate I had voted and, had I shown up at the polls on election day, the voter roll would have already reflected my vote and I would have been sent away.  In SOME states, mail in ballots are not even allowed to be opened until after the polls close.  In those states, it is possible that a voter mailed in a ballot, and then, for whatever reason, forgot he or she had done so and also went to the polls on election day.  In THOSE cases, the vote cast at the polls would count, and then, when the mail in ballot was opened and the name compared against the voter rolls that had been in the polling place all day, the duplicate mail in ballot would be discarded, and, in some jurisdictions, LEO's sent to investigate possible voter fraud.

I did.  We lived in a lovely home in Merida, Mexico for six years.  We never could really get used to the heat and the three kids - all in Maine - were too far away.  We moved back five years ago.... built another new net zero home here in Maine.... and now live on an acre of forest about a mile from the ocean.  I just play golf, cook, travel, spend time with the kids and grandkid.... life is grand.

Are you still punching a clock, btw?

It would be foolish to let a competitor have an advantage that you refuse to use on principal. Obviously we are not going to get rid of covid19 inspired mail in election season by 2024. It would be retarded not accept the facts on the ground. I think mail in voting months invites fraud. Also think not taking full advantage of mail in voting season would be suicidal.

Is this your next big fail thread, groomer?

Have you finally abandoned that last humiliation - your anti- 2A thread, groomer?

It's pretty hilarous. He is COMPLAINING that republicans are learning from democrats and agreeing with their arguments.

WTF? Take the win, Gump - take the **** win and celebrate.

One would think that he is ADMITTING the practice is dishonest, and he wants his party to have a lock on it.

I did.  I think it's hilarious that, for years, all I have heard from MAGAts was that mail in ballots are EVIL.  Now...they're not.

And again.... I am not worried at all.  Republicans are too lazy to do the legwork necessary to run a GOTV operation.

I think it's **** hilarious.  And nobody who has joined the clown in saying “YOU CAN NEVER HAVE FAIR & FREE ELECTIONS WITH MAIL-IN BALLOTS – NEVER, NEVER, NEVER.” over and over and over and over again for the last two years is holding their ground and castigating the clown for the flip flop.  It's tough for anyone to castigate the clown with his scrotum in their mouth.

Only a fool doesn't take advantage of all existing election laws during a campaign. It doesn't matter is you agree with the law...it's still the law and a smart candidate uses the laws to their advantage when possible.  Growing up, I was always told there are three things you do when it comes to rules/laws;

Know what they are.
Follow them.
Work within the system to change the ones with which you disagree.
