Well starving people to death will make you want to go to the other side. And Ukrainians used to think good of Russia till this attack on the Ukrainian people and still trying to starve the Ukrainian people once again. Like Russia of old.

Stalin struggled with loyalty across the board. But he made up for it with simple brutality. If people refused to fight for Stalin he just killed their whole family. Anyway...Germany was certainly resisted by the ussr in their invasion but for the most part they just rolled over it. 20:1 kill ratios were typical. He got about a mile away from Moscow before the gas ran out. Perfectly logical attack, unlucky result

He diverted a few dozen army group down south to the oil fields with no way of using it and refining it. Then ran out of oil later.

Hitler made absolutrly the best strategic decisions he could have. I doubt armchair generals could have done better. At the end of the day, it all depended on winning st stalingrad. Hitler knew that. When heinz guderian lost that battle, Hitler fired him immediately in an act of passion (he was probably hitlers best general)

He wouldn't of ran out of gas and over run the Russian if he hadn't diverted the man power and wasted the fuel attacking oil fields he had no way of transporting or refining at the time.

this is extreme speculation. He obviously did need oil fields. It also takes time to set up a defensive position.
