So, would you agree that gun violence in this Country is not a a gun problem, as much as it is a societal problem?maineman » 27 Mar 2023, 8:52 pm » wrote: ↑ I am, quite literally, not crying. I have owned a hunting rifle since my grandfather gave it to me in 1964. That was the only gun I ever owned until I returned from Mexico with my wife and she and I were both so concerned about the level of gun violence in America that we decided to arm ourselves, and we did. I know that 2A lovers will not accept any gun control solutions and I have given up actively seeking to find those solutions. I hope and pray that my family stays unharmed from gun violence, and I will do what I can do to protect myself. Beyond that? Que sera sera.
More Jesus.... kill all the queers. send the *** back to Africa? amirite?RedheadedStranger » 27 Mar 2023, 8:57 pm » wrote: ↑ So, would you agree that gun violence in this Country is not a a gun problem, as much as it is a societal problem?
It sounds like that's what you are saying.
How do we fix that?
No, you're copping out... again.maineman » 27 Mar 2023, 8:59 pm » wrote: ↑ More Jesus.... kill all the queers. send the *** back to Africa? amirite?
****. I am just accepting reality.
He can't admit that it's not a gun problem.

In other words, you've just said **** it, and have given up.maineman » 27 Mar 2023, 9:10 pm » wrote: ↑ ****. I am just accepting reality.
people with guns are gonna keep killing people who aren't carrying guns.
there is nothing that the people with guns will do or care to do about that.
I quit fighting it and bought guns for myself and my wife.
Progressive America. I guess it has always sucked for some people, and, for others, once their slice of society benefitted from it, then they came to believe that it sucked for anybody else. really... women didn't think progressive America was terrible when it was giving them the right to vote. *** didn't think that progressive America was terrible when it passed the CRA and the VRA.... but, man, can they all have a change of heart about Progressive America when it starts letting homos get marred.....
I am straight. All my kids are straight. two of them are married and the third one is getting engaged. None of the females in my family would be anything other than ecstatic about being pregnant (except my wife, who is decades post menopausal).... so **** it... we're good. I am DONE getting myself worked up over somebody ELSE'S rights being violated.
I know that there is nothing I can do to get 2A lovers to accept the sorts of measures that would have an appreciable impact on gun carnage.RedheadedStranger » 27 Mar 2023, 9:19 pm » wrote: ↑ In other words, you've just said **** it, and have given up.
Sorry if I don't follow your sentiments.

So I carry instead.

and again... it seems as if you think that things would be SO MUCH BETTER if we just rolled back some of the "progressive" crap that has pervaded America....RedheadedStranger » 27 Mar 2023, 9:19 pm » wrote: ↑ In other words, you've just said **** it, and have given up.

and I say, again, that LOTS of people might feel that way and might want to roll back a lot further than you would like. And lots of people don't think we've become as progressive as we need to be.
wow. Ain't that America... little pink houses and everything.
I used to really play the politics game. I was the chief of staff for the Maine Senate Assistant Majority Leader after I retired from the Navy. Her husband had been an Annapolis grad like me and talked her into bringing me into her campaign. I know how politics works. I know I am not vigorous enough to fight in that arena anymore. I have lost the fire in the belly. Now... I vote... and banter on an internet message board... and send money to democrats who ask me for it.
And then I vote, did I mention that part?
and you get to define the limit.RedheadedStranger » 27 Mar 2023, 9:33 pm » wrote: ↑ There is a shelf to everything... or better said, a ledge.
There is such a thing as "too much of a good thing".
Men must be governed. That's just the way it is.
