As for gun control, I've carried a firearm my whole life. It's like grabbing my keys and wallet to me. Training and familiarity are the key to an armed society, because the criminals don't have that... usually, and that's a plus.

I most certainly have always supported the constant quest the Founders set us upon to make a more perfect union.  I don't know about you, but I think that letting women vote moved us further toward that goal.  Freeing slaves did the same.  Halting the practice of employing young children in factories did the same.  Give blacks the right to vote did the same....all major accomplishments of the progressive movement.  It is what I wanted.  I am not crying now or ever for any of those.  For you to say that those issues, or the social safety net caused the gun violence epidemic is silly.  Did you or did you not support those progressive initiatives listed above... and if so, isn't it what YOU wanted as well?

It really does no good to demonize women who get abortions as baby killers.  I will readily admit that, there are some women who use abortion as retroactive birth control, but I truly believe those cases are in the minority.... especially later term abortions.  Abortions after the first trimester, according to my friends in the medical profession, are invariably performed because of severe complications either with the fetus or the mother.  My sister-in-law is a midwife and she has known countless women who, along with their spouses had found out the gender, picked out a name, decorated the nursery, bought baby clothes and a supply of pampers only to find out that their pregnancy was doomed and who reluctantly, sorrowfully, devastatingly terminated it.  Those women aren't murderers and when pro-lifers indiscriminately plant that flag, they severely alienate folks like me, who are reluctant supporters of abortion to begin with and make us even more militant in our pro-choice stance.  Just sayin'
