what does the makeup of appellate courts have to do with juries in red states finding differently than blue state juries.DeezerShoove » 03 Apr 2023, 6:13 pm » wrote: ↑ You are grasping beyond our topic.
That pissing contest you need can be found elsewhere.
If this was so clear cut and fair, why would you progs get so broken up about SCOTUS selections?
Why is the 9th Circuit Court considered "liberal"?
Liberal and conservative enforcement is different, like it or not. Juries reflect that.
Ok, bye.

Why would a blue State DA charge a store owner with murder for defending himself against and armed robber in his store, while a Red State DA wouldn't?maineman » 03 Apr 2023, 6:07 pm » wrote: ↑ My point was that politics don't play a part in determining whether a defendant did or did not commit the crime for which they are indicted. another partisan opinion with ZERO substantiation.RedheadedStranger » 03 Apr 2023, 8:06 pm » wrote: ↑ Why would a blue State DA charge a store owner with murder for defending himself against and armed robber in his store, while a Red State DA wouldn't?
The answer being, that a conservative prosecutor would apply common sense to the situation, where a "progressive" one would play politics with it.
That is the point Deezer is making, and he's right.
I posted a couple of stories just yesterday where Alvin Bragg was bringing murder and attempted murder charges against citizens that used a firearm to defend themselves from criminals.maineman » 03 Apr 2023, 8:28 pm » wrote: ↑ another partisan opinion with ZERO substantiation.
Who really IS weaponizing the legal system?
anecdotes ain't data.RedheadedStranger » 03 Apr 2023, 8:33 pm » wrote: ↑ I posted a couple of stories just yesterday where Alvin Bragg was bringing murder and attempted murder charges against citizens that used a firearm to defend themselves from criminals.
One guy was even shot twice first by the crook, before he wrestled the gun away from the perp and shot him.
That foolishness doesn't happen with Conservative DAs.
If someone broke into your house, and you shot them... Alvin Bragg thinks YOU should face attempted murder/murder charges. Do you agree with that?
Alvin Bragg campaigned on and won his position on "I'll get Trump!"... by more than 80 points... and you expect me to believe that a jury pooled from that same 80%+ wouldn't be biased in his favor when handing down an indictment?maineman » 03 Apr 2023, 8:44 pm » wrote: ↑ anecdotes ain't data.
a couple of stories.
cool.
And if I posted a couple of anecdotes where conservative DA's overstepped their prosecutorial authority, that would completely disprove your anecdotal house of cards, wouldn't it? That's the thing about anecdotes.
And let's be honest....neither of us knows what Alvin Bragg thinks, and to suggest otherwise is... well.... pretty **** presumptuous.
I believe that the citizens of New York are just as patriotic as the citizens of where you live. I think that if 23 of them listened to the evidence presented by the DA and then deliberated and returned indictments, you and I should both give them the benefit of the doubt and believe that they found the evidence to be convincing.RedheadedStranger » 03 Apr 2023, 8:55 pm » wrote: ↑ Alvin Bragg campaigned on and won his position on "I'll get Trump!"... by more than 80 points... and you expect me to believe that a jury pooled from that same 80%+ wouldn't be biased in his favor when handing down an indictment?
Look at the man's record. He is KNOWN for downgrading felony crimes to misdemeanors, with the exception being his number one political target, which is Trump.
That's not an anecdote or presumption... that's fact. That is weaponizing his office, and YOU apparently support it whole heartedly.
WHAT THE **** DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE LEFTIST CITIZENS OF NEW YORK EXCEPT THAT THEY'RE IGNORANT RADICALS WHO LISTEN TO LEFTWING MEDIA AND FOLLOW LIKE SHEEPLE.maineman » 03 Apr 2023, 9:17 pm » wrote: ↑ I believe that the citizens of New York are just as patriotic as the citizens of where you live. Imagine if the shoe were on the other foot. and YOU were a member of a red state grand jury whose deliberations were questioned as being fatally flawed by paritsanship simply because you were in a red state.
If you really want to start dismissing justice rendered in blue states, then get ready for lawlessness rendered by anyone and everyone who disagrees with justice rendered by anyone they disagree with.

The citizens of NY and Bragg (and the left in general) aren't looking for the truth, they want their skewed version of "justice"... regardless of the facts.maineman » 03 Apr 2023, 9:17 pm » wrote: ↑ I believe that the citizens of New York are just as patriotic as the citizens of where you live.
