How is a graphic novel about Teenage Ann Frank NOT a suitable book for children?
At another school. Art Speigelman's prize-winning graphic novels 'Maus I and Maus II' were banned because there was a small drawing of a naked mouse in a bathtub. If you squinted really hard, you could see that the author drew NIPPLES on the drawing! Th Horror! The Horror!

Anne Frank Diaries Were a Fraud
Scientific analysis of the manuscript supposed to be the original diary of Anne Frank, during WW2 reveals that it could not have been written before 1951, six years after the end of the war. The alleged “diary” was also written in ballpoint pen ink — which had been invented during the War years, but was not manufactured for public use until 1951The information was revealed in an article on pages 119 and 122 of DER SPIEGEL on 6 October 1980. Der Spiegel is a weekly German news magazine like Time or Newsweek, by Dr William L. PierceOtto Frank, a Jewish businessman from Frankfurt, was one of the inmates at the Auschwitz rubber plant manufacturing camp, who survived the Typhus epidemic during 1945.After the War, he tried to get a publishing deal in 1946 with claims of a diary that he said was written by his daughter. The alleged diary he claimed was written by her while the family was in hiding from German police in occupied Holland, and before she died at Auschwitz. She died in the hospital at Auschwitz, while being treated for TYPHUS.Otto Frank found a willing publisher and sold the stage and film rights as well. The book has been translated into many other languages and Otto Frank has earned millions of pounds from the royalties. The English version has sold over 4 million copies to this date.There have always been suggestions that the diary was a complete hoax because of its non-credible claims and many inconsistencies between editions and translations where the text had been edited to appeal to specific countries.
Otto Frank was sued by Meyer Levin, a New York scriptwriter, that Frank had claimed he wrote large portions of the script that was written by Levin. The Court ruled against Otto Frank and ordered him to pay $50 thousand.Scientific Tests Reveal it was Written after 1951The diary was claimed to be written from 1942 to 1944, but scientific tests prove that it was not written before 1951 and Otto Frank had meanwhile made millions from this hoax before his death in 2016The Bundeskriminalamt (Federal Criminal Office, like our FBI), completed a careful analysis of the original manuscript with microscope and ultraviolet illumination, to confirm its authenticity and date of writing. Their expert report given to the Court stated that large sections of the alleged “diary” had been written in ballpoint pen which was not manufactured before 1951. Where would a Jewish child obtain a state-of-the-art ballpoint pen hiding in an attic in Holland? The Evidence is ClearThe testimony of Minna Bekker, a graphologist in Hamburg in an earlier trial stated: “The handwriting of the diary in the three bound volumes — including all notes and additions on the glued-in pages as well as the 338 pages of loose material — including all corrections and insertions is identical . . .”Otto Frank died soon after the report of the Federal Criminal Office was given to the court, without needing to answer to his fraudulent crimes. No books in Florida have been banned. Not by DeSantis and not by anyone else. Not making certain books teachable in schools is not "banning" them.

The book at one point shows the protagonist walking in a park, enchanted by female nude statues, and later proposing to a friend that they show each other their breasts.
Other books about Anne Frank and copies of the published diary she wrote chronicling her time hiding from the Nazis with her family and other Jews in German-occupied Amsterdam remain in the school systems’ libraries. The Jewish teenager’s diary was published in 1947, several years after she died in a concentration camp, and it has become a classic read by tens of millions of people around the world.

When I was in Jr High and High School, there was a selection of books that were kept in the back of the library that were only allowed to be checked out with a parents written permission, and The Diary of Anne Frank was one of them.
This was over 40 years ago.
