I don't pay income taxes.

First, you must buy a new EV that qualifies. Then you’ll need to fill out IRS Form 8936 to claim your credit of up to $7,500 against your tax bill when you file your 2023 taxes. Starting in 2024, however, the new law will allow you to get the credit upfront at the dealer at the time of purchase.

However, the EV credit is what the IRS calls a “nonrefundable” credit, meaning you can’t get more money than the total you owe in taxes. So, if you only owe $4,000 in federal taxes for the year, you’ll owe $0 after the credit, but you’ll “lose” the excess $3,500 you didn’t need.

BTW: The $28,000 price is for a bare bones' car with out the other charges throw in yet.

And it isn't $60,000.  Which was my point.  There are quite a few cheaper options than $60,000 Teslas.

BTW, I drive a "bare bones car" without any of the upgrades.  I never missed the upgrades.

It is still a come on !

You only get how much your tax refund is.

I'm not knocking the car itself...just Sleepy Joe pissing down your back and telling you it's raining.

If your tax refund is $500 that is all you get but Sleepy Joe keeps throwing that magical $7,5000 number around.

I'm not really worried about it.  There a lot of cheaper options out there, and more coming from China and Europe.

I drive an itty bitty car, and I will probably never buy another one.  By the time this car wears out I will be too old to drive or dead, so not a big worry for me.

Why would the outlaw  gas engines?
Did they find it necessary to outlaw steam locomotives and coal furnaces?
Did anyone outlaw horses and buggies?
These will be gradually eliminated because electric devices will be cheaper to maintain and to operate.

Replacing the cars on the road is a gradual process, but encouraging EVs over gasoline and Diesel is the right move. They will not ban gas and Diesel engine vehicles for the average citizen.

The only things I worry about are the things I have control of in some way.

BTW: I would only drive a Chinese car...is if you gave me one.

There is nothing gradual about, can't you read, you won't be able to buy anything else than an EV in 10 years.. and those EV's won't be cheaper to maintain and operate.. maybe you have noticed what has happened to your electricity bill.. it's all about control.. it's not a joke, they really mean it.. you will own nothing and you will be happy...
