Look at the FULL video I posted and you will see the reality of this in that it was a totally justified shooting by the cops.He DID reach for his weapon, and had it drawn. It didn't hit the floor of his car by itself!!

I thought I did watch the full video.  If there's something particular you want me to see, then give me the time marker and I'll take another look.  But, I did watch the full video. I did not see where he reached for his gun.  What I saw was the kid finally trying to open the door, and before he could get it open, the cop yelled "GUN GUN GUN" as he was doing a mag dump into the kid and the kid's car.

You watched the one from the OP. It was HIGHLY edited leaving out a LOT of what is in the Body cams UNEDITED below. Start watching about 6:14 and beyond. It points out EXACTLY when he went for his gun. And seconds later the officer calls "GUN".

Ok, I watch the segment you pointed out to.  The officer told him to step out of the car.  The kid was wearing a seat belt.  In order to comply, the kid needed to undo the seatbelt.  The kid  was moving slowly.  He looked like he was trying to comply; that he likely forgot that he even had a gun.

The cop should have done a couple of things:

• Should have asked the kid if he had a firearm before even asking him to step out of the car.
• If the kid said yes, then the cop should have directed him on exactly what to do in a calm manner so he could exit safely.

Now, it might look like he was going for his gun, but I doubt it.  The cops overreacted. I also think the kid was extremely stupid in how he handled himself with a gun strapped to his hip, but he's not the paid professional, the cops are.

So, Beekeeper, here's a question for you.  After reviewing the footage, and yes I'm asking you to be an armchair QB, do you honestly believe the kid was going for his gun in order to shoot a cop?

He was going for his gun. Seeing how it became unholstered and was on the floor of the car. That doesn't happen UNLESS it is pulled out by the idiot. Keep watching where it plainly shows that gun and where it ended up. I've got guns and holsters that no matter what you do, you ain't going to get it out UNLESS you draw your weapon.That's part of the purpose of holstering a weapon to prevent it from falling and to keep it from firing UNTIL you draw it to use.

Stop making excuses for this idiot. He did 100% EVERYTHING wrong and put the cops on edge from the very second he was approached. STUPID games you play wins you STUPID PRIZES. He won the ultimate stupid prize.

I don't make any excuses for the stupid 25 year old kid.  He's F-ed up 9 ways to Sunday and is dead.  I could be wrong, but I fee sure he was not reaching for his gun.  I think he was trying to undo his seat belt. Here's why I say that:

• The obvious one is that he was wearing a seat belt.  Thugs who shoot cops don't wear seat belts. If he was going to comply and get out of the car, he had to undo the seat belt.
• He was trying to win a legal point with the cop.  The stuff he was saying was complete ****, but he was immersed in more of an intellectual argument with the cop, which didn't seem like it would devolve into a physical or armed altercation.
• The kid actually did give the cop his real identification - the passport turned out to be his, so he complied and identified himself.  I don't know why he said what he said - stupid move, I suppose.
• The kid was not moving quickly.
• The gun was holstered.  If he was a thug looking to shoot a cop, it wouldn't have been holstered. He wouldn't own a holster!
• Guns fall out of holsters like that all the time if they are not snapped in and you are sitting in a car.  Clearly the kid was all twisted around after he was shot 12 times. So, the gun could have fallen out then.
• He comes from a family who believes in some kind of separatist, soverign citizen ****. These folks aren't typically violent or looking for gun fights with cops.
• Clearly the kid was not stoned or drunk and never said anything threatening.

Another is so you don't make yourself a target for bad guys. They will either try to take it or shoot you first because you're advertising you're a "tough" guy.
Open carry is for the look at me crowd that don't have either the mental faculty to get training or laziness or both.

I have no sympathy for those irresponsible gun owners. They're just as bad as the ones that don't secure firearms around children.

When you are armed the first thing you do is tell the officer you are packing and take it from there.

Anyone who argues with a copper is looking for trouble.

That is not a threat.  It merely shows lack of cooperation. He is not required to roll the window all the way down.  Look, the kid did a lot of things wrong, I already acknowledge that.  My only comment is that the cops over-reacted.

It is a treat because the officer can reach into the car if he / she / it needs to.

Therefore, it is also a treat because it can escalate the situation.

My ex-best friend was a copper in DELCO pop 500,000 (right across the river from Philly) for 25 years until he was forced into retirement and got a job making license plates for Uncle Sam.   He worked SEC 4 which was like 7 Boro's and the word was out...if anyone saw that guy follow him BUT don't stop unless you absolutely had to.

I'd rather just cooperate and sleep in my own bed that night.
