Drought is putting pressure on California’s already stressed-out grid. As water reservoirs run dry, there’s been a significant drop in hydroelectric generation. Without enough water pressure to quickly turn turbine blades, there could be electricity shortages right when residents need it the most.  Rolling blackouts have already become a new norm for the state as utilities shut down power lines in an attempt to avoid sparking fires during hot, dry weather. But summertime outages also occur when residents crank up their air conditioners to beat the heat and demand outpaces the available power supply.

I dropped anything about California off my radar screen long ago.
The politics suck.
The 9th circuit court sucks.
The voters suck (in the cities like just about every state).
The druggies suck.
The immigrants suck.
The schools suck.

The weather is nice north of San Francisco, though.

Almost everyone in California has water, almost everyone has electricity.
California is a far more pleasant place than, say Mississippi or West Virginia.

The State of California does not own the electric companies.
The Power companies whose poor maintenance caused the fires in a relatively few places were sued and ordered to repair the problems on the lines, but that takes time and they are obliged to shut off power in the relatively few places where fires might occur due to quipmn that still has not been replaced.

The State of California has no control over the amount of water that flows toward it from the Colorado River.

The government of California does not control the water or the electric grid.
It certainly has done a better job than the State of Mississippi has done in seeing that the people of Jackson have potable water.

lots of water in the west. lack of government development. snake river needs to have a massive dam built at twin falls idaho. creating a massive irrigation and recreation lake. allow china to manage the project.

also california should have china build a massive lake north of mt shasta. dam up klamath river at i-5. use wind power and siphon pipes to deliver water into the dunsmuir river.

china could bring economic opportunities to all of north america. canada has surplus water. mexico has surplus labor. the usa federal government is not interested in economic development. so let china develop north america. how great it could be. work and prosperity for all.

I lived in Bolivia and Colombia in the 1960s. Same ****.

Happily, they have improved a good bit.
