But it appealed to White people who read it, because they agreed with the premises: (1) White people are superior, even for life in the jungle; (2) British people are superior to other White people, and finally, members of the elite British peerage will always be superior socially everywhere.
Why doesn't anyone make a movie about a Black baby raised by apes?
(1) because Black people detest being compared to apes.
(2) because the purpose of any film is to make money from the public.
(3) and neither Black nor White people would actually pay to see such a film.

Every company does serious market research prior to investing millions in a film.
The Little Mermaid, even with a darker Mermaid, will surely earn big bucks for Disney.
No film is made for the general public. All successful films are made with a specific target audience.
This movie was obviously not made with fanatical Black-hating right wing assholes in mind.
Halle Berry is a very talented singer and actress, and has a large following.
