I had a time share for awhile. It was no big deal.
Cost a little discretionary cash and was just another option when vacationing.

Rather than "just stop paying and taking that ding" I found a small company that took it off my hands.
I'm certain they made money selling it to somebody.
I got a few thousand back and no ding.

It wasn't as horrific as all the stories I hear about.

I suppose it depends on the program in question.

I think a young, high earning, stable family that values security over novelty can profit from a resort time share.

It's not a scam in its entirety. I just tired of certain aspects, lost money on the deal.
Scads of boat owners can claim exactly the same. Neither thing is an investment.
Either can be a pricey venture.

Yeah I had a buddy who was adamantly opposed to time share. Hating on time share was a passion with him - he considered anyone who bought time share an idiot.

Anyway, he wanted me to go in with him on this boating program, where each of us would have x number of weeks of boat usage per year for 400 bucks a month or something. I can't remember the particulars. The progam was called freedom boat club.

I looked at it and said, dude, this is time share. We didn't discuss it after that lol.
