This topic is one that infuriates me. Living in a cold climate- i know how important good heat is.
These idiot dems live in a bubble. And have no clue how the grid can withstand it.
Everyone plugging in. Nor do they even think that far ahead. IDIOTS!!! Cant you see the future?
I plug in my car- my lawnmower- the drill the cell phone- what ever you have....
Once they accomplish that. WATCH them electric bills soar! They'll have everyone really over a barrel. With no choices...

I see, so you're one of the few ignorant libs left who still believe that CO2 is a pollutant, huh?
Did you EVER stop to consider that the earth and man could not exist without it?
Or did you ever wonder why CO2 levels were FAR HIGHER millions of years ago when there were no gas stoves, cars, furnaces, or lawn mowers?

Nah, it would make too much sense, to understand those things before being such a gullible moron to continue swallowing Biden's lies and ****, wouldn't it?

Reducing emissions in the United States is like performing state enforced gastric bypasd surgery on an anorexia victim. Until China, India, and the third world adopt environmental controls you might as well be adding kool-aid to cat piss.

Co2 is plant food not pollution.

You know the difference between wanting specific others to freeze vs not caring how many freeze? Separation of attitude and platitude of who's who here now.

Fireplaces burning on a monitor don't produce heat. gas fireplaces are just a furnace designed as a fireplace. Really depends upon the design to pull the heat out while venting the fumes out of the room.

Like anything with flames, one must replenish the oxygen it uses.

Do you have a vent free gas heater ?

if you have gas, they are the way to go

I don't use it to heat the house, I put one in the basement to keep everything from freezing if the power goes off

no i have a HUGE wood furnace in the basement- so the pipes never freeze- it blows hot air up thru vents... miles of vents. A oil furnace and an old fashioned kerosene heater- that's almost impossible to change the wick.

My dogs have a battery operated rolling ball toy... The dog's toenail lifted up the vent grill  upstairs and ball went down.  OOPS- I tried to grab it...
oh noes... ran to the basement.
I heard that ball traveling down about 30 feet of duckwork. As i heard it and watched. It was stuck up at the top of the wood furnace duck work.
Then I heard PLOP... down into the furnace it went. For the next three days... It clunked around some where inside. It did -until it ran outta battery.

we cut a hole in the silver box on top... hoping to get it-  nope. Wasn't there.

I was very skairt-
I had a 3 inch plastic ball with a rechargeable battery inside the wood furnace.
thought it was gonna or could EXPLODE.
Its been there for at least two years now.

The single mom in NYC would have to be very rich to own her own residence. Odds are a single mom would be a renter, and replacing anything would be the landlord's obligation.
And this is not about fireplaces, it is about furnaces and ovens as they wear out beyond the possibility of repair.
A gas fireplace consists of a chimney, which is already there, and a simple device that has gas jets in it. This would be removed and replaced by an electric device.

I have an electric radiator that is filled with oil (which merely circulates, and does not ever get burned) that easily heats my bedroom. It cost me $39.95, plus tax.

Burning gas creates Carbon monoxide and several unhealthy other gaseous products.
If your fireplace has no chimney, then where does the CO go? Does it just float around the room?
There are good reasons for chimneys.
This does not sound to me like the way to go.
