The Coast Guard just released a statement saying that pieces of the sub have been spotted on the ocean floor in close proximity to the wreck of the Titanic and that they are pretty sure the vessel suffered a catastrophic implosion at some point.

My theory...

They lost communication with the Titan sub AFTER it imploded.

Probably hit a piece of the Titanic on the ocean floor, or the sub was already unsafe, which compromised the sub hull and it collapsed and it was over at that instance.

For the sake of those onboard, I hope you are correct.  At that depth, an implosion would have killed them instantly.

that is what I heard, it imploded near the titantic.

tragic.

it had a bad design, no way out in case of an emergency, bolted from the inside. it mirrors the titantic in a way, so sure nothing won't go wrong and the titantic did not have enough for lifeboats for everyone.

Bad design?
You think they could have swam to the surface if it had a screen door?

There's tours of Gettyburg and the Little Big Horn...
There's tours of Pearl Harbor...

Off Cape Cod there's the Andria Doria....
And people still go there......

I really have no problem with these historic sights
I believe Gettysburg,  Pearl Harbor & Little Big Horn are National Historic Battlefields which are regulated and administered by the National Park Service... There are protocols & mechanisms in place to preserve these sites, as well as manage the safety of visitors..

The Andrea Doria is a different story....  Since 1998, 13 people have died Diving that Wreck, which is in approx 200 ft of water off Nantucket ... For years the Coast Guard has been raising the alarm, and trying to get Massachusetts elected officials to do something, but no one seems to know what can be done since the wreck is in International Waters...

I've also heard that they may have fail on the way down to the Titanic...which means those who thought the sub was already not safe may have been right.

I suspect a murder, disguised as an accident. There was one target - the others were collateral damage.

I lived in SF and on the Peninsula for a combined 6 years - never visited alkatraz.
Never understood why others DID visit the scene of that crime.

Do you realize that at 2.5 miles UNDER the water, you have ZERO chance of survival OR to "swim to the surface". You can't RUN 2.5 miles without oxygen and trust me, you can't come anywhere CLOSE to swimming as fast as you run.

Not to mention the CRUSHING of your body due to the unfathomable pressure exerted from under the sea. MOST divers are unable to survive 400 feet underwater, and if they do ultra deep dives, there is a long acclimation to that pressure by using a pressure chamber underwater so you DON'T implode when you enter the water.
What is the pressure 2.5 miles underwater?  The pressure at a depth of 2.5 miles is about 400 atmospheres, 400 times the pressure on the surface and equivalent to half a tonne per square centimeter.

Kardashians could survive it. So could Rosie Odonell and Whoopi.
