           Why would a 2 year old have access to a loaded firearm?
I was raised with Guns, as shooting & hunting was very much a family activity... I was given my first Gun at age 12 --- a single shot 410 Winchester Breech Loader.. Dad also had an FFL so he could buy & sell Guns & Ammo wholesale... My brothers & I NEVER had access to a loaded firearm in our home... All the gear was locked in a walk-in Gun locker, and Dad had the only key ... We were taught firearm safety. . In fact, because of the Federal Firearms License, ATF was at our house twice to go approve the plans and inspect the locker after it was built..

           My opinion has always been to hold the adult gun owner responsible / liable for any firearm in the home.. If a kid gets a hold of a gun from home  and shoots up his school, charge the parent as if they had done the shooting as well... In this case, the surviving parent (the Father) should also be held responsible for a toddler having access to that handgun.. Another idea I support is to make it law that a person must also buy a trigger lock for any Gun they own or purchase..   Strengthening & enforcing laws is the better solution than saying nobody is permitted to own a firearm

I have never hated guns.  I own three.

I hate stupid people who own guns and leave them loaded in their nightstand where their two-year-old son can find it and kill his mom with it.

I agree. Irresponsible people do a lot of dumb ****. Guns aren’t the only way people die

It is **** up. Blame the people not the guns. A kid could walk into a pool and drown. Do we hate pools ?

I blame the parents who put in a pool, but not a fence around it, or the ones who don't supervise their children when they are near a pool.

One of my earliest memories is being four years old, and acting like a ghost for my older sister at our country club pool with a towel draped over my head, and I slipped and fell in all wrapped up in the towel.  My mom, who had been sunning herself in a chaise by the pool beat the lifeguard to me and hauled me out of the pool herself .

What's **** up is assholes attempting to use a tragedy like this as a political bludgeon by trying to tie it to #MAGA and #2A.
