If my child is being targeted, I don't want the SRO shooting the ceiling. I want him or make a kill shot and put down the assailant.

A school shooter is on a one way mission to die that day or die in prison.   His usual life is over.

Against him is a policemen that by the odds hasn’t ever killed a man in his life and hasn’t ever had a man determined to kill him.

To further complicate the equation the policeman is likely a college graduate, and decades older than his enemy.  He wants to go home, not die for the children, or die for any reason at all, that day.

Standard procedure during the Vietnam war was to empty a full magazine of every weapon in the general direction of the enemy during what was called a “mad minute”

https://youtu.be/ZpvB5oX5t4I

The active shooter training today relies on a modified “mad minute” theory.

The first thing it accomplishes is the bad guy knows he’s about to die.  His attention hopefully is diverted.

The other thing is the good guy is less afraid after he begins to shoot.

The problem with it is, the shooter has already unleashed dozens or hundreds of rounds and has had his own “mad minute” before the good guys have theirs.

Man, that was enjoyable on several levels - not least of which was the dog. He looked like he felt he needed to do something but couldn't figure out what to do. If he'd had cropped ears, he'd have looked like a bad ***, instead of just looking like a sweet dog.

The duet has their white trash bona fides - one long haired and bare footed, and the other complementing short pants and naked shanks with work boots. But the writing and the playing and the singing were top notch.

At anyone's expense except their own
Would they laugh if they knew who paid?

Those old preachers would lean low over the pulpit and say are we all a lot like Peter was, the night the Sanhedrin came for our Savior?

Peter was called The Rock.  He swore to Christ in the Garden  he’d die for Him, before he’d let Him be taken away.

And the Master looked at him and said Peter, I love you,

But you’ll deny me thrice, before the cock crows twice.

(No wonder, as a kid you could not have paid me to miss church. No better entertainment ever existed than the old time Campbellite sermons of my youth)

But the story of Peter in the Garden applies today.

We seem all really brave in the Garden, before the danger.

But when the time comes to chose between living another day or facing death in the face today,

We might decide to postpone that trip across the veil until tomorrow, at least.

There is some effort being made, to arm schoolteachers.

But having grown up the son of a traditional Christian Church school teacher and all my aunts being teachers, and knowing their quick tempers and mercurial dispositions,   I can advise if they do, they should give the children guns too, to try and level the field.:)

But seriously, what’s wrong with school shooters and other mass murderers is lack of a traditional Christian upbringing, which no law or government can ever or has ever provided.  Only God fearing parents can raise children up, to fear God.  As a side benefit they’ll not fall prey to false prophets only out to pick their pockets in the name of the Lord.

I support it.
I don't exalt it.  I don't bow down and pray to it.

I own guns.  I have owned guns for many many years.  I do not support taking guns away from law-abiding citizens.  I DO support some common-sense measures to control the plague of gun violence.

You evidently haven't met the right cops. Like the one I personally know who was shot through the shoulder from a .44 magnum wheel gun by a drunk **** stopped in the middle of the road. Cop kept composed, moved behind the rear wheel, plugged the drunk **** in the head and neck through the back window, killing his drunk ***, then called for medical assistance. That takes balls and skill. Took him many months to recover. I visited his precinct. Lifted weights in their exercise room. They were some tough sons -a- bitches. All were taught fighting skills. No fat asses. One guy looked like Dolf Lundgren. Snap your neck. No donuts.

People who stereotype cops in the same bad light haven't behaved themselves, were caught doing so, and aren't man enough to admit fault.

That is instinctive survival skills cornered in a situation where there is nowhere to go and nobody is there to help. that is when a brain stops minding relative time semantics like linear seconds, minutes, hours, etc. It is just adapt or become extinct. Real knowledge without a collective soul community or society suggesting anything else is possible.

Sorry, but no. Those are not instinctive. That's the exact protocol he was trained for. Yes, it's for survival as well as eliminating the threat, but without training, the non-LEO citizen would have a far less chance of attaining both objectives. You know nothing about a lot.

Did you ever considered intellect is induced energy within the brain working inside out while the body is awake navigating space while mutually evolving in space one at a time here, never same total sum twice, forward now?

Most likely not because academia, arts, economics, politics, religions, mob consensus suggests real isn't real and majority rules laws demanding people obey possibilities por else face insubordination, treason, blasphemy resisting the will of the people making **** up.

Your personal emotions are comparing past with current events where most situations seem like deja vu.

No it's time to get better police. The kid didn't hold them off. They never tried. The gunman was completely unchallenged.

What do you want to do about gangs and other inner city crime? That's where most of the "gun violence" happens.
