And, of course, I think all people are created equal. I also believe that, in a place where people of one color were subhuman property for centuries, society does not just magically become color-blind and dispense that equality by fiat.
You must find it odd that all those names on all those beams hanging from the rafters of the Lynching Museum in Montgomery - 4,400 African American men, women, and children who were hanged, burned alive, shot, drowned, and beaten to death by white mobs between 1877 and 1950 - ALL died after black people were declared equal to whites by fiat.ConsRule » 03 Jul 2023, 8:54 am » wrote: ↑ First...the post you responded to was not a hypothetical comment. Slavery was part of the United States for for less than a century (1776-1865)...before that, get Great Britain to pony up. Slavery has been abolished in this country for almost twice as long as it existed. By the way...you can thank a republican controlled House, Senate and White House...you're welcome.
It is clear you favor discrimination...as long as you get to decided which group is the target of said discrimination.
Not really...since they were hung by demonrats. It really pissed them off when republicans freed their slaves.maineman » 03 Jul 2023, 9:07 am » wrote: ↑ You must find it odd that all those names on all those beams hanging from the rafters of the Lynching Museum in Montgomery - 4,400 African American men, women, and children who were hanged, burned alive, shot, drowned, and beaten to death by white mobs between 1877 and 1950 - ALL died after black people were declared equal to whites by fiat.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calls for Congress to limit the power of the Supreme Court (msn.com)
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) stated that Congress should use a variety of methods to limit the power of the Supreme Court. In an appearance on CNN on Sunday, the New York Democrat argued that the Supreme Court was compromising its own legitimacy and that she believes Congress must act to limit its power.
"I truly do," Ocasio-Cortez answered when asked if she believes the power of the Supreme Court justices should be limited. "And this is not a new — this is not a new development in history. This is part of our system of checks and balances. The courts, if they were to proceed without any check on their power, without any balance on their power, it would be a dangerous, authoritarian expansion of power in the Supreme Court."
The New York Democrat then said that Congress should use every tool at its disposal against the Supreme Court, including investigations, subpoenas, and impeachments."We have a broad level of tools to deal with misconduct, overreach, and abuse of power, and the Supreme Court has not been receiving the adequate oversight necessary in order to preserve their own legitimacy," Ocasio-Cortez said. "And in the process, they themselves have been destroying the legitimacy of the court, which is profoundly dangerous for our entire democracy. We will bury them."
and all those southern slave-owning Democrats magically became racist Republicans within a generation!ConsRule » 03 Jul 2023, 9:10 am » wrote: ↑ Not really...since they were hung by demonrats. It really pissed them off when republicans freed their slaves.
You must CHEER DAILY that 100% of those DEATHS were at the hands of your NAZI DEMOCRATS!!maineman » 03 Jul 2023, 9:07 am » wrote: ↑ You must find it odd that all those names on all those beams hanging from the rafters of the Lynching Museum in Montgomery - 4,400 African American men, women, and children who were hanged, burned alive, shot, drowned, and beaten to death by white mobs between 1877 and 1950 - ALL died after black people were declared equal to whites by fiat.
No they didn't ASSKISS!!! They are still Democrats. People became REPUBLICANS because of the ECONOMIC DESTRUCTION you IDIOTS put on this nation with your BIG PUSH FOR SOCIALIST NAZI IDEOLOGY!! And you STILL DO by indoctrinating CHILDREN in any manner you can in DEVIANCY, HATE FOR THIS NATION and destruction of anyone that offers principles of morality and traditional values.maineman » 03 Jul 2023, 9:34 am » wrote: ↑ and all those southern slave-owning democrats magically became racist republicans within a generation!
Spin history in what ever way you need to in order to make yourself feel better about being a demonrat. The facts are, the 13th was passed by REPUBLICANS and demonrats literally started a war to protect their right to own other humans...and when they lost the war, started hanging those that had been freed.maineman » 03 Jul 2023, 9:34 am » wrote: ↑ and all those southern slave-owning democrats magically became racist Republicans within a generation!
oh yeah... and all those abolitionist New England Republicans became tolerant accepting liberal democrats at the same time.
Ocasio-Cortez doesn't like the decision made by the SCOTUS and she questions the "legitimacy" of the court......and then wha? "We will bury them"......Punch » 02 Jul 2023, 11:49 am » wrote: ↑

Demonrats simply refuse to accept that 90-95% of voters think only of themselves. People have been saying "all politics are local" for almost a century for a reason. It is rare that one issue becomes, and stays, in the forefront of the voters minds long enough that it changes the "local" balance of power. It is almost universally a multitude of reasons that cause a geographic area to "change colors".maineman » 03 Jul 2023, 9:57 am » wrote: ↑ History shows what the parties USED to be. The south used to be solid blue and now it is dead red. The folks who created Jim Crow didn't all LEAVE and their children did not all become tolerant non-racist democrats up north. All the abolitionist republicans that filled New England before the civil war did not all move down south of the Mason-Dixon line. People didn't change, but their party affiliations certainly did. There was a good reason that Ronnie Reagan kicked off his presidential campaign in Philadelphia, Mississippi and made "states rights" a theme of his very first campaign speech there.
There is nothing, absolutely nothing “center” about modern Democrats. You’re a **** lunatic.Bruce » 02 Jul 2023, 8:03 pm » wrote: ↑ Do not count me as one who fears the Supreme Court.
What I fear is utter destruction of the two party system, and my side having no other party to restrain them.
By the odds, Biden and Trump, both too old to be President, will face off in November 2024 and Biden will win all the states he won in 2020 and North Carolina.
The Republican Party has not won even a small popular vote victory in a generation and not a decisive one since 1984.
We have likely already seen, the last Republican President.
In another two generations the entire Supreme Court will be appointed by Democrats, and all federal judges as well.
The vast majority of Americans are not liberal or conservative but centrists.
We like, life as we’ve come to know it,
The Democrats only play, towards the center left, and the Republicans only play, completely off the spectrum to the right.
funny how quickly the south turned red after the CRA and VRA passed. There may have been a multitude of reasons, but the alliance of blacks and northern democrats was certainly the overriding one.ConsRule » 03 Jul 2023, 10:20 am » wrote: ↑ Demonrats simply refuse to accept that 90-95% of voters think only of themselves. Your belief that society cannot become color blind and cannot dispense that equality by fiat is totally destroyed by most segments of society actually living, working and prospering side by side in Society......
and the actual racist extemists of our society are not of. Just one skin color but are both Black and White ....and come from both sides ....
Are they?maineman » 03 Jul 2023, 12:10 pm » wrote: ↑ the only difference being that the economic clout of those two extremes are vastly different
