2007-2008 Depression was caused by one thing: Congress passing loose lending laws that allowed banks to make loans without verifying a person's creditworthiness. This, coupled with ambitious developers, corrupt appraisers and get-rich-quick blue-collar house investors tanked the economy. In other words - all because of a Democrat program (FDR New Deal style) to get blacks out of the projects and into houses they could never afford.Cannonpointer » 05 Jul 2023, 10:54 pm » wrote: ↑ How did those principles - strictly adhered to un the USA - perform in 2007 and 2008?
if that were true, Obama wouldn't have bailed the banks outSkans » 06 Jul 2023, 6:59 am » wrote: ↑ 2007-2008 Depression was caused by one thing: Congress passing loose lending laws that allowed banks to make loans without verifying a person's creditworthiness. Can you tell me how many houses Countrywide Financial got to keep? Or, IndyMac. There were about 140 smaller banks that primarily made loans to low income home buyers as a result of this bad policy. But, Countrywide was the biggest and the one most involved in making subsidized, low-income loans and then dumping them on the secondary market.Mrkelly » 06 Jul 2023, 7:09 am » wrote: ↑ if that were true, Obama wouldn't have bailed the banks out
then let the banks keep 5 million homes
how did that help the black folks again?

It doesn't pay to be stupid, does it.
Obama didn't "let" anything. People who had no business buying a house couldn't make their payments. The banks had liens against the houses. Why? Because the Banks (not Black people) paid for those houses. If the house-buyer doesn't pay the bank, the bank gets to take the house. It's been that way for hundreds of years.and Obama let the banks take them
A Democrat Congress, hell-bent on getting black people into white neighborhoods F-ed up the economy. Not Banks.as a reward for **** up the economy
they wanted them to have the houses so bad?Skans » 06 Jul 2023, 7:55 am » wrote: ↑ It doesn't pay to be stupid, does it.

A Democrat Congress wanted Blacks to be able to afford houses. So, they jerry-rigged programs to get them to qualify for high-LTV loans; risky loans, which banks had no business making and Blacks had no business committing to. White investors got in on the action too - and they not only lost the homes, but went bankrupt.
so why didn't congress bail them out instead of the banks?Skans » 06 Jul 2023, 8:59 am » wrote: ↑ A Democrat Congress wanted Blacks to be able to afford houses.
